rofl, just posted it over there...I am sure to get an answer.

bleh I have hit that site a few times in the past, thanks for the heads up, I will have to become a regular there seeing as how I am a milsurp nut.

Milsurp mania is a disease that affects many Americans. A very common strand is called enfielditis. Side effects include huge decreases of money left in your wallet and a never ending hunger for moar.

::pull out Milsurpaholic chip:: I just let go of 2 mausers and one enfield from my inventory....so I am making progress

Tsk Tsk, you're supposed to be stocking your safes to overflowing capacity with these! But I do understand, there are some I have I think I will be getting rid of some time soon.

I went a bit crazy on bolt guns for a while. I think I got upto about 18 milsurp bolt guns at one point. I might have shaved that down to around 10.

I figure I would rather have fewer guns that I shoot more, then a bunch of guns that never come out of the safe. However I am young with not a lot of income...I am sure the disease will return in full force when I start making some good cash

you mean whether I bought it or not?

haven't sold anything yet....but from the consensus on this thread I got the notion that it was not a good idea. I mean I could buy it if the shop is willing to return it if it is non-functional, but nearly one grand for a reworked gun of unknown quality/manufacture is probably not the best use of my money.

Good choice.

For one grand you can get a full size Garand of known good vintage, with brand new wood, brand new high quality barrel, newly re-parked and the all-important CMP paperwork that says "Legitimate" like no other way does. Gotta love the CMP Special Grade.

oh yea, well once we established over at surplus rifle forum that it indeed was a Moroccan mauser we settled on the fact that while it is indeed quite rare as far as mausers go, it is relatively obscure meaning that there is not much of a collectors market for it. So while it should be worth around $1500 finding someone to pay this is going to be hard because there is so little information out on the Moroccans. Which kind of sucks because people will easily pay $700+ for a swedish M/42 but that is because they have developed a following. So I think I am just going to keep it as a very nice compact carbine, as selling it is not really worth.

I imagine an appraiser would not be able to give me much in the way of answer either. If myself and the people at surplusrifleforum have a hard time identifying the rifle, then a regular appraiser probably would as well. I bet I could make some coin if I sold it to one of those online auction houses, but whatever.

I already have a garand and a pile of ammo from CMP 8)

Just really wanted a tanker like the one in the shop, but what I do not want is headache, and it sounds like the chances of that happening with a reweld of unknown quality is pretty high.

Well i'm glad you're keeping it. I suggested you sell the other stuff first anyways.

working on that as we speak 8)

I was lusting after a KTR-03 ( vepr version), but now I am not so sure. I am kind of wanting to have some spare cash around for when firearm deals popup in this excellent buyers market.

actually so am I. I was ready to buy one a few months ago, but they have been on such a waitlist that I gave up. I am sitting on quite a bit of 7.62x25 right now so :?

I am a bit leery of buying one of these of gunbroker due to the nature of the design. If someone was not impressed by theirs enough to sell it, chances are I do not want theirs either. This is one of the few times that I would rather buy straight from the manufacturer because there is a good chance of getting one that doesn't work 100% at first ( seeing as how they basically redesigned the entire rifle).

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. Also i've only ever seen one for sale at a store/show and it was $900, which is basically what this will be once shipping and adding a drum mag come into play. I don't care so much about the waiting list now because I don't have the money, but hopefully they will be in stock when I do. I'm sitting on some surplus 7.62x25 because the cz-52 I have doesn't seem to like it. So I say to hell with the hand gun, I want the burp gun

sounds like we are of two like minds. I am selling my two Cz-52s just because I do not have as much fun with them.

Did you have an reliability issues with yours? Also, have you heard the stories about them being able to go through 3 heads in a row?

no problems with mine so far, they have all run perfectly. I bought romanian ammo I think, and thats what they have been running on. However I also bought some other stuff on stripper clips which looks to be in worse condition ( lots of surface corrosion), so I am weary about that stuff.

I got whatever comes in a grey, tin, spam can. I admit the reason I got it was the cheap ammo.

yea penetration is pretty good on them, I just am not as fond of the CZ-52 platform as a defensive arm. To get it up to snuff I would have to

-add new sites
- buy new grips
- add a slide release
- fabricate a new more functional slide release
- add anti-friction magazine coating

by that point I am investing $500 into a $200 gun just to get it up to shape. Now it would be a sweet pistol by that point, but eh?

frankly I would rather just invest in a 7.62x25 carbine by that point.

mine came in a tin can wrapped in paper and tied with string( 20 round packages). that has been the good stuff so far.

Yeah and I don't like how you can't dry fire it. I don't normally do that with my guns, but I feel I treat the 52 with more caution for fear of it breaking.....I don't like feeling that way with a gun.

its just poor ergonomics, the gun is built real solid, but it would never be my go to gun.

Mine either. Now the cz-75, I've heard great things. I have a baby eagle .40S&W, which IMI basically took the design of the 75 and redeisgned it, and I love it.
