Re: Seattle: The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone
Seen some really disgusting videos coming out of the CHAZ/ CHOP. I think in San Francisco they call it a Tuesday. I won't post here but they are bit disturbing and I have seen some disturbing stuff over the years. One of the more interesting (less disturbing) ones is the naked guy on meth running around because he thinks an earthquake is coming. He wants his kids to get naked with him too. Not going to post links but they are out there for those interested. Since there is no one to stop the naked man from down the street high on meth he just keeps running while chatting with the camera guy.
911 calls in the area have reportedly tripled for sexual assault and aggravated assault.

Some calls are not being answered at all. Like a burglar he resists the owner detaining him with a box cutter. He is then freed by a crowd of people who celebrate by tearing down the owner's fence and setting fire to his building. Good times.

Sorry if this was covered, but I just watched a video of the rap star turned warlord handing out an ar15 from the trunk of his car. The kid he gave it to obviously had no idea how to operate it. The video was on a youtube channel run by Tim Pool. Apologies for not having a link, but it is easy to find.
Re: Seattle: The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone
Tim Pool is decidedly political. Re: Seattle: The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone
Yeah, I saw that one. Tim has three different youtube channels. The video where he talks about it is on "Timcast IRL"....but the raw video is all over twitter, too.Chaos454 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 9:22 pmSorry if this was covered, but I just watched a video of the rap star turned warlord handing out an ar15 from the trunk of his car. Tim Pool is one of those very interesting political commentators. People on the right think he's a socialist, people on the left see him as a conservative Trump apologist. Regardless, as a political and news commentator, he's probably not a person whose thoughts and opinions should be shared here. He does often share on the ground footage however that can be worthwhile, like the clip that was mentioned.MPMalloy wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 10:30 pmTim Pool is decidedly political. And as a reminder, ZS isn't the place to come to discuss the news in general, it's a place to discuss the events from a prepping standpoint. What happens in the CHAZ is a disaster or emergency and discussing those events and how it helps us be prepared for a similar event is valuable. How you feel about what's happening in the CHAZ is not valuable and often leads threads off the rails.

Re: Seattle: The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone
At one point I said I wouldn't bother to bug out. I would now be considering bugging out if I lived there. Not for the reasons many here have cited. The people I know that are regularly going into that area are now blaming much, if not all the violence on "white supremacist agitators coming in from the outside." It comes across to me as a paranoid conspiracy theory. I'm also seeing talk of reeducation camps from people I know.
I wouldn't be surprised if some lowlifes from competing ideologies have gone in there to cause harm (ALL ideologies have their lowlifes, I dont mean all from a specific ideology are lowlifes). I can't believe they account for all the problems though.
The significant increase in a variant of "it's all the illuminati's fault" in their groupthink is what is concerning me.
There are now proper barricades being put up. I'm uncertain if they are already up or are still in the process of being put up.

Police enter Seattle's 'no cop' CHAZ protest zone after 'shooter with a rifle in a SUV kills one man, 19, and leaves another in critical condition'
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... unded.html
Police confirm shooting occurred early Saturday inside the 'autonomous zone'
People reported gunshots near barricaded entrance at around 2.20am
Protesters transported two gunshot victims to nearby Harborview hospital
One victim, a 19-year-old male, was dead on arrival at the hospital
Witnesses say the shooter was a man in a black SUV carrying a rifle

I don't doubt that at least some of the problems are from that. By creating a racially divided police free zone they put a big target on their back. The people I know that are regularly going into that area are now blaming much, if not all the violence on "white supremacist agitators coming in from the outside." It comes across to me as a paranoid conspiracy theory.

Re: Seattle: The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone
If a non-participating resident had not yet left the area, last night should've provided impetus to do so today. It seems somewhat more stable during daytime, and I ~think~ SPD can "cross the line" during limited hours by agreement with "the protesters".
In a total SHTF scenario it would be BOB/INCH time; in reality, you might get a u-haul in and out; but the current situation calls for withdrawal.

Is the "Summer of Love" over?
KIRO 7 news - Seattle police, city workers clearing CHOP after mayor issues emergency order
KING 5 news - At least 23 arrested as Seattle police retake control of East Precinct in Capitol Hill
The Seattle Times - Seattle police clearing CHOP protest zone
This is a developing story....It may be nothing, or it could get spicy.

Re: Seattle: The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone
Last heard at 1800 newsies was "more than three dozen arrests" including a guy with a steel pipe or fence post and a large kitchen knife. I saw him walking around with that pipe on the 0530 morning newsies. Notably, nothing said about any recovered firearms.
For those living there (as opposed to camping in the park, on the streets or in their vehicle) it must be a relief - from a prepping standpoint, if staying, I would build alliances with neighbors; take a critical eye to my current location and see how it could be improved - even consider moving, if possible, further from centers of action in this latest "occupy protest" - to be better ready for the next one. Finally, I would consider what worked well, what sucked and what did I need to replace.

That is good advice.
I am not sure that real estate will be in demand any time soon. So moving may be awkward for some people.
This has some "after" photos of the mess left.

In regards to moving - local newsies have featured lessee's who are leaving. I figure IF a person has to stay in that area, but is in a disadvantageous position (ground floor, on a corner, right next to a known trouble spot) it MIGHT be possible to get a better location or at least better terms on a lease renewal.raptor2 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2020 10:56 amQFTtony d tiger wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 10:57 pm

The two murders and other crimes are under investigation, I hope the SPD can gather enough evidence to charge those responsible - and that the prosecution pushes for maximum punishment; but have little confidence this is possible.

Re: Seattle: The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone
I would assume getting an insurance renewal for a retail site there would pose some issues. If the location is leased I would suggest the lessee seek to void the lease and also join the many lawsuits against the city for their gross failures in this matter.tony d tiger wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2020 11:18 amIn regards to moving - local newsies have featured lessee's who are leaving. My opinion is that these lawsuits will not prevail based upon precedents but they may as well try to get some justice for the damages they incurred. The city may settle since they are not paying out the settlement out of their own pockets.
Based upon this group's claimed desire for justice and peace, one would assume there will be many people turning in the murderers ... time will tell.tony d tiger wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2020 11:18 amThe two murders and other crimes are under investigation, I hope the SPD can gather enough evidence to charge those responsible - and that the prosecution pushes for maximum punishment; but have little confidence this is possible.

I dunno... I'll bet if you spin it right you could easily rent out any vacant apartments there. Describe it in glowing terms, with reference to "summer of love" and being "right in the heart of CHOP, that wonderland of autonomy and free expression, the hottest neighborhood for those of the "in" crowd since the heyday of NYC's Greenwich Village... yadayadayada" and you could probably charge a premium.

Local news sources are now reporting that security forces have retaken control of rebel held areas. In a show of force they are closing businesses (including those who filed lawsuits against CHOP) by not allowing anyone into the “secured area” local news teams that were on scene during the 3rd wave of “security forces” attacking rebels while they slept are now confirming that inhabitants of the area are being denied access to their homes when they return from work.
Mayor has issue an emergency proclamation allowing local security forces to block entry of people who provide proper ID for a minimum of 10 days.
That’s correct occupying security forces are allowed to block entry to residents for no reason even provided proper papers.
Oh shit, sorry I’ve been making this sound like some 3rd world country. But given reports from local media, everything is true.
I’ll probably get banned but.... nothing i posted was untrue, merely laid out in an unpleasant manner.
