*Citation needed* on those back packs made in prisons in USA.

I can send you many nice citations discussing the 4,000,000 man prisoner labor force in use in China today. Most of whom work in dangerous jobs like mining or ore refinement with minimum safety standards (or none).

I just posted that ZS was not the place to have such discussions and you go ahead and try to continue one!

If you fancy the SpecOps THE pack, their website has one in their blowout clearance section. Half off, IIRC.

My EDC, USA compliant, is a Kifaru E&E with X-ray straps, 2x skinny mini long pockets, and an organizer. This set up rocks. It also attaches perfectly to my bug out pack, a kifaru Molle express. It's a great setup, if a little expensive, but it will do everything I ask of it and never balk. Limited capacity means limited weight.

First, we should really be asking the question of what you plan to EDC. Just a pistol and minimal essentials? A pistol, a half dozen mags, two nalgenes, clothing? That'd be a different bag.

Some people dislike 5.11 Tactical, but they are one of my favorite clothing companies, and I've had really good luck with the tactical packs and pouches as well. I would look into their new (based off larger pack however) Rush Moab 10 pack. It has a dedicated pistol pouch, along with a good amount of storage and carrying space. Yes, it's not made in the USA, but their quality is very good in my opinion, and the cost isnt prohibitivley high. Kifaru makes some awesome packs, and I have two of them, but you certainly do pay out the ass for the quality. For weapon carry, look into their Koala https://kifaru.net/koala.html . It's a smaller pack than the Rush Moab, but it depends on what you want to carry, as I mentioned.

There a lot of local custom messenger bag companies in the US - Black Star (Portland) is one that comes to mind. Not sure if they'd be up to do one wiht something specifically for a gun but you could always email them and ask.

second on the Timbuk2 bags, Chrome bags are nice too

Third on Timbuk2...let me tell you about hard use: My "go to" is about 12 years old. It served as my "bread and butter" bag when I was a bike messenger for four straight years working year round in Chicago and all that the city had to throw at it; when I moved on, it became my carry on for airline travel and my "kit bag" when i canoed the Boundary Waters. Tomorrow I'm going to dig it out of the garage and post a picture or two.

I have worked with Chrome bags too and they are pretty damn bomb proof as well.

They make multiple versions of it, from minimalist to robust, to customizable. If you check out my posts you can find a review and pics of mine. I would feel secure if I had to make it home from work or school with it. Well, as comfortable as can be in a survival situation, I suppose :P

They also make the Tarahumara, a ~750ci pack for day hiking. I want one...

They're not 100% USA made...some of their raw material I believe is outsourced, but by and large it's domestic production, and it's a pretty cool small company.

Hill People Gear is 100% US. Well, we have sold a few hats from time to time that I believe were born in China, but right now everything HPG is USA made.
Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness.

Duluth Pack are handmade in the USA. The women who sew them sign their names on the bags; mines made by Diane :D

My EDC is a MOAB 10. I love it. It is a bit small for my needs but for the price I am not complaining. And made in the USA means nothing but more expensive(labor rate in America is outrageous compared to China) but you are directly supporting local businesses. I work in the custom bag industry and we do both import and domestic production. We hold our import factories in China to a very very high standard and as long as they meet the standard, the bag is a quality piece. I see the same kind of work in the 5.11 bags.

I stand corrected; I must have been thinking of another website and mixed it with yours. My appologies.

Right now you can get it in desert camo with a pouch and two sheaths for $89.95. I just ordered two to make B.O.B.'s for myself and the Mrs.

I EDC the Radio Ruck. Its shorter and wider than the GR1 and 2 liters smaller. Fits my shorter wider figure better.

Only thing I wish it had was 3 rows of molle than 2.
