My EDC Organizer

Postby 74 or more » Thu Jul 05, 2012 8:22 pm

Hey guys. Sitting here going through some of my gear and I thought I would post a couple pics of my EDC organizer. I’ve seen a few others on here and I thought I'd throw mine in the mix. I love this thing. It’s an easy way to move the little things that go everywhere with me from pack to pack.

This is the standard size EDC

Contents:
wiggy pry
Instant coffee
Burt's bees
Nail clippers
Pencil
2 x pens
-cheap pen
-Kubaton pen
Sharpie
2 x pill capsules
-Zyrtec
-Prilosec
Bic lighter
Streamlight Stylus Pro
14" zip ties
Letherman sidekick
USB/micro
cheapo carabineer

If I had to pick few things I use the most it would be the Letherman, flashlight, and pens. I'm going to stop carrying the coffee. It's like I stopped using the little packets the second I bought this organizer. 14" zip ties will fix anything on a motorcycle. I like to throw this thing in my saddle bag every time I head out. It's not packed to the brim like a lot of other ones I’ve seen. If you guys think of something else I could/should fit in here, let me know.

-Cheers

Looks great!

Is there anything to write on? Consider perhaps a small mirror for working on the bike to see in areas you can't get your head in. Perhaps a hanky for cleaning your hands off or it's many other uses. :)

Been thinking about making something small for my bike but I don't use saddle bags so limited room under the seat. That and I almost alwasy have my backpack with me.

You know what I would put in there that I have been considering myself, but have been too lazy to pick up.
A few AA size batteries maybe to replace a pen, and one of those emergency cell phone chargers that runs of AA batteries.
They are pretty small and should fit in there fine.

I was just thinking the other day. My cell phone has saved my butt more than any other EDC I have, yet if I got stuck someplace with no power outlets and a dead battery I am screwed.

I have one saddle bag and it's pretty small. It sits right up under my oil bag and doesn't fit much. Just essentials. But that’s a different conversation.

The mirror is a great idea! I have a hanky that’s always in my pocket and I also have a write in the rain note pad my buddy gave me but it's one of the bigger ones and doesn't fit in the organizer. If space is an issue, you should look at there smaller organizers. I’ve seen a few of the smaller ones on here that people have really packed full.

I hesitated to give too many suggestions b/c I assume you have stuff in your pockets already. :)
I use a mirror regularly to look at stuff under my bike when I don't want to lay down on the ground (if wet or I'm in a parking lot somewhere).
I've actually got a small condor wallet just like this and I love it! I just keep it in my backpack that's almost 100% of the time with me.
I keep a fresnell magnifier, few sticky notes in a ziplock in it in addition to the same type thing you have.

Hopefully if I find the VFR I've been looking for, I'll have saddle bags for touring so I can get some nice stuff together for a bike kit.

Have you also considered a little tool kit for the bike? Perhaps a fix-a-flat? Not too sure if that's the direction you were wanting to go with it, but figured I'd ask. I keep a set of hex keys under my seat at all times because it seems like everything on my Yamaha uses them. You could prolly disassemble my entire bike with a few hex keys and a 10mm socket. lol

Cool kit. My only suggestion might be to add a rite in the rain notepad in one of those slot pockets.

Not specifically, no. But it does have MOLLE webbing on the back so I'm sure you could work something out. A belt might even fit through one of the rows of MOLLE.

Here is a picture of the back from the site.

My favorite thing, aside from the organization, is that it make is easy to transfer all of the small crap I like to keep on me from pack to pack.
