Where to buy real MIL-C-5040H Type III certified 550 cord?

Postby zombie360 » Wed Jun 13, 2012 8:27 pm

Everywhere there’s places selling “real MIL-C-5040H Type III certified” made in the USA 7 strand paracord, but a lot of it isn’t real it’s got to have 7 or more strands and each of those strands needs to be made up of 3 strings (3ply).

Like this:

What I want to know is where a reputable place to buy the real military 7+ strand, 3 ply 550 cord?

Thanks.

Thanks guys for your replies, So have you guys looked at the paracord you bought from those places to see if it does have 3 twisted threads per strand?

I asked camping and suvival/paracord king about it and haven't heard anything back.

All the paracord Ive ever cut into has been the 3x7 variety, and I usually buy mine from cheaperthandirt.

Honestly, any application in which cordage strength is critical means you shouldnt be using 550 cord.

Agreed ive never bought any from cheaper than dirt but i buy anything i can get for free from them and quality has never been an issue, if it says its milspec then its milspec, and hell they sell it cheaper on there than we buy it for from supply in columbia, that same 1000 ft spool on cheaperthandirt for 50 bucks is 80 down at the supply shop lol

I got a 1000' spool from CampingSurvival about a week ago. I checked last night, and the inner strands are indeed 3 stranded.

While Ive gotten my share of crapola stuff from CTD, I've also bought a 1000' spool of the 550 cord from them and its definitely 3x7 ply.

Well thank you for assuming im going to steal it, once again ignorance prevails if you must know i have a buddy that works at a local military surplus store here that usually gives me a pretty good discount on things so i dont see paracord being an exception to that, maybe you should try asking questions before you assume some ignorant bullshit again

Sure thing. Although, given the cryptic nature Of the original post, coupled with your previous posts I was referencing (without putting it all on blast) and the fact that you talked about "if anyone wants some we just go in and get it" I don't think it is a huge stretch for a reasonable person to make.

But, seeing as I explained in a pm that it was just a heads up for your benefit yet you chose to respond in such a highly defensive and public way, I can tell you're not a reasonable person.

Besides, I did ask. "Haven't we" is an interrogative... You, on the other hand, don't need to come out of the gate cussing and name calling.

:?:
