New bug out bag

I have been looking into getting a new pack. Currently I have a Condor 3 day pack. I have come to realize that this is HUGE! It is way to big for a 3 day pack. I have been looking for a slim panel loading pack lately and have come to realize that MOLLE medic bags may be the way to go. They are great for organization. Also I can fit all my main items inside and easily organize them. On the outside I can attach what I need based on seasonal temperatures or locations I may be traveling to. I now have my eyes set on the TSSi M9 Assault Medical backpack for my needs.

That style of pack is way too specialized for bug out purposes. The idea of neatly organizing your gear may seem like a good idea now, but it is not practical. First off, all those little loops and pockets is extra weight. I also don't see how any substantial shelter, bivy, spare clothing, food, etc will fit. And the price! No fucking way. I'd keep rocking the Condor (can't believe I just said that) if I were you.

As for organizing stuff in a pack, it's way over-rated. Throw all your possibles in a small ditty bag/mesh bag/ stuff sack, keep it near the top of your pack and call it quits. Do the same for your FAK.

That's a sweet bag! But like Omega said, totally inappropriate for bug out purposes. If youre willing to spend that kind of money, buy a mystery ranch, kifaru, or eberlestock pack.

I am really trying to stick with a low profile pack with a lot of molle on the outside. the eberlestock warhammer would be amazing but the price is really high.

If you are set on that M9 bag, all the internal organizations come out, via velcro. You could turn it into a very tiny go bag, kind of like the Kifaru Koala... or E/E bag or whatever.

But, for a three day bag I would want something closer to a normal assault pack.

I love my Warhammer so far. It's heavy for a 46L pack but the expandability options are what made me go for it even at the price premium. (and honestly it's not that high when you start looking at higher end backpacking packs too) I'm using it for a SAR ready bag not a BOB exactly but much of the same gear since we have to be ready to fend for ourselves for at least 24 hours in pretty much any condition. That being said I wouldn't call a Warhammer low profile, it's not a compact pack by any means.
