I've been using a TAG Sniper pack for a while now, and liked it so much, I just bought another one in Multicam. Made in the USA as well.

Maybe let us know what your budget is? You get what you pay for.

Well, you're probably right. It IS Chinese made, afaik. But at least 5.11 stands behind their products, which is more than most Sellers of Chinese crap!

You know what? I'm not considering a budget yet. I am willing to pay for a quality pack. If I pay $500 for the last pack I'll ever have to buy, then it's money well spent.

I'm not defending made-in-China products but sewing is not rocket science. The key determinant of a product's quality is not where it is made but the specs required and quality desired by the company contracting the overseas factory. If they want so-so quality that looks cool and can be had on the cheap then that's what they'll get. If they want uber tough gear that is super stitched and has a low factory-defect rate then that is what they'll get (will cost more). These companies pick their target demographic well, use marketing and branding to increase the apparent value of their product then charge more for the product which makes overseas workmanship look bad when the product was made inexpensive to order as specified all along.

That being said, buy American!

The amount of gear you hump sounds like what I have in my "truck bag/jump bag/bail out bag/bug out bag/ghb/edc" thingy bag. (yeah I have trouble officially designating it the one acronym too, lol).

It's a SORD STRIKE panel loader and I get around the lack of extra organisation with MOLLE'd on admin/pouches etc.
SORD gear is tough as hell. I have laid hurtings on mine day to day that would make a normal pack tap out.

There is a SORD USA too, these days FWIW.

That Kifaru Marauder you are looking at is the tits btw (ie: awesome).

Yeah, I have no idea what to call it either. Mostly, it's a convenience bag, with "edc" stuff thrown in.

I'm intrigued by the TAG packs.... Anyone tell me more?

I'm surprised you had problems with the 5.11 Rush. I have a Rush 24 and a Rush 48. Both are awesome packs and I've never had any problem with them. I've had a couple of Maxpedition bags and they seem a little tougher than 5.11 but 5.11 seems more functional to me.
My opinion...60% of the time, it's right every time!

Osprey Talon 22 will fit the bill if you dont need a ton of pockets/organization. Bests the 5-11 products in durability and usability http://www.amazon.com/Osprey-Talon-22-66-22-Litre-Backpack/dp/B0042E2FJY

I've had one for 3 years-been all over plus some. Currently serves as daily kickboxing carry bag as I dont need that volume for my EDC.

osprey Raptor 14 is my current EDC bag but might not meet your space requirements. http://www.zombiehunters.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=91584#p2034051

If money is not a question I would recommend Eberlstock packs...they are bombproof!
When in doubt fire for effect...
