Seriously, if it makes you much more safe and comfy in a less than forgiving environment you have spent money well.
I bought a $500 sleeping bag. That's too much for a bag, right? It's a bargain after I slept very warm in 12 degrees two nights in a row. The third night was 24 and I had to unzip it halfway. Best part is the thing weighs 2 lbs!
