Really a discussion you want to have?

I think you didn't get it.

I think the correct statement was, the tomahawk makes a decent last ditch. It is not the best, nor even a top ten option.

Lets rephrase it.
To get through a bullet proofed vest the first time, or a helmet, the tomahawk is the superior weapon.

Or XM193.

Why the hell do you need to punch through a kevlar?

Because the wearer is on the wrong team.

LBB is right. A tomahawk is certainly superior in kevlar / body armor defeating vs M193:

In all seriousness, I'm thinking an M4 used at the same distance one might engage carrying an ancient native american weapon would be as or more effective on defeating kevlar.

If I was on the receiving end I'd much rather be charged at by a guy with a tomahawk than an M4.

Urban environment, and you might regret this.

Right, because running around hacking people with a TOMAHAWK is much more low profile than shooting them with an M4.

CWS is more tacticool because no jury would convict a Spetznaz-jumping-back-flip-shovel-killer.

Hey, if it works in Black Ops on the xBox...

...you should leave the tactic to Black Ops.

Can we possibly get back onto the topic of this Chinese Super Shovel, instead of talking about tomahawk VS rifle on the modern battlefield?

I haven't had the funds to get any kydex for a test. Any suggestions for a common household analogue would be nice.

Grrr...newfangled...razzlefrackin....tarnation...durn rabbit!

Putting one on my wish list before I see it in the next Call of Duty game...

I'd make one myself, but the whole hinge thing would have me on the 4th floor of the psych ward in a month. No point to an e-tool when all I get to do is talk to Napoleon and his friend Crunchy the Squirrel.

Nice Crovel review. It looks like a monster of a tool! If it were 2 lbs lighter... Was it worth what you paid?

If you have anything MOLLE or ALICE, I recommend the MOLLE mod on the carry bag. It's pretty easy and all you need is a ruler, knife (to remove the stitching), and a needle and thread.

Thanks. I think the weight is needed to perform some of the functions. Time will only tell on the return of the investment. I'd say it will return about $5 of worthiness each trip. So if it last over 20 trips than I will be in the black. I will continue to review it.

On topic of the Chinese shovel. I would of bought it but it is expensive to be Chinese made. Also was worried about longevity.

Will do. I got the threads popped and was starting to stitch on the piece I removed (was the hang loop). But I need a stronger needle to punch through the nylon...so I'm unfortunately delayed for the time being.

The paratrooper model can be had here http://www.bonanza.com/listings/Chinese ... h/31500232 for half the price. But it doesn't look as nice.

Thanks for the informative review. Just wondering how the hinge is holding up, is it still nice and tight?
