Pretty soon your belt is going to look like mine!

After the damn taco thread and my love of hsgi I ordered three of the taco rifle and pistol pouches. Ill be able to carry six mags on the belt.... Will I do this all the time no but we will see how it all comes together and the weight of it. The only question now will be is can I run the belt and plate carrier and belt with it all toped of with mags  That would be a total of 13 rifle mags and 5 pistol mags... crazy....yes..... needed most likely not but its a great concept.

So the beauty of having a modular belt is that you can change it to suit your needs.

After a short hike a few weeks ago, I decided that a few changes were in order. First, the pouch I had my rangefinder in was too big, and was constantly in my way. I found that I could get my rangefinder into one of the smaller Maxpedition pouches, and that slims down the belt considerably. You will also notice that I removed the 20 rd ammo pouch and added a double mag Kangaroo shingle. When I add a pistol, the safariland 6004 is added on, currently it is not attached due to most of my current hiking being in state parks with no open carry allowed.

The small camelbak was added and this allowed me to lose a canteen, while actually gaining water. I tried running a 3L bladder, but it was too heavy and caused a lot of pulling on the suspenders. The smaller bladder rides better, and the open canteen pouch allows me to pack it full of food!

How well is the rig balanced? It seems to me like it's left-side heavy.

Holy shit! Those HSGI Taco mags are the hardest thing on the planet to attach. I spent about an hour trying to get just one on. The combo of mags and super velcro on the belt has caused a delay in set up. I might have it ready by the end of the week...

That is becasue you did not take into consideration a pistol on the right side.

Good call! Almost as good as me hydrating from an explosives charge!
I installed two grimlocks on the top D rings, and it's good to go. Thanks for the tip!

I have nothing to add. I'm making a scout belt to but Milcopp came up and now it's on the back burner.

I like this concept.

Take my advice and learn one important lesson before you imbark on this journey:

Pack your belt for the mission, not the mission for your belt.

Remember that these belts are made modular for a reason, you can add gear, and more importantly, take it off for whatever you are expecting to do with it. This is why I post pics of it in it's different configurations. Right now it is set up to completly replace my day pack. And short of adding a chest rig, it is as heavy as it is going to get. When you get over five pounds you need suspenders, and over ten all the weight has to be evenly distributed.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

I'm building mine off an ALICE belt with the clip buckle.
So far I have:
Kelty butt pack (food, various small tools, poncho, light, Fire kit)
ACU double mag pouch
Kbar knife
ACU M9 pistol mag pouch
A small medi kit (Izzy bandage, various small FAK items.)

What I really need are some good padded suspenders, a compass + pouch, a H2O carrier, 2 quart canteens + pouches.

The suspenders are of utmost importance, I've had 3 shoulder surguries and I can't take the weight without padding.

Any ideas? I like the look of the Tac Tailors.

I can't speak to how well they would work with your shoulder issues, but- the LBE suspenders that go with the ALICE gear and pistol belt (not technically ALICE, per se, but it works with it all, as ALICE system items were designed to work with the belt already in use) work well for me. I prefer the H style straps to the Y style. I think they distribute the support better, but that's just my opinion. If you want, you can also add the ALICE shoulder strap pads that were made for the ALICE packs. They are a sleeve design that slides over the normal straps.

The Condor H Harness is a quality piece of kit. I'm really happy with mine.

Now a note on Battle belts and suspenders, the weight is supposed to ride on your hips, not your shoulders. My suspenders only support about 30% of the weight, the rest rides on my hips.

How about a link or pic?

If you want a cheap shoulder pad, get a sheep skin shoulder belt pad from Walmart auto section.

But if your shoulders can't take the strap pressure, maybe a vest might be better?

Well here is my set up (pre range) which is why none of my straps are taped. All I need to do is stuff the big pouch and throw my IFAK back together. I have no idea how much it will weigh but its got some heft to it topped off with mags.

HSGI sure grip padded belt, 3x r/p taco's, HSGI IFAK, Marz Combat medic pouch(24 hr kit), HSGI frag pouch (compass/gps) Safariland holster and maxpidition dump pouch.

Worked out great at the range, had other technical difficulties but I digress.

The belt is awesome good balance with AR mags, left side heavy with AK mags. Rides very nice and is comfy! Pistol is at a good postion and I can get into the large pouch just fine and feel for what I need..well at this point I can.

Nice, but it looks like that dump pouch may literally be a pain the butt. lol

Hey, out of curiosity, how does the sizing run on the HSGI belt? I am thinking about getting one.

The dump pouch only is annoying when seated in a vehicle

I dont thing there is a sizing on it. Im a 33-34 inch waist and this thing rocks. I dont see any one thats got a 40 inch waist line getting much out of one.

I think the best way to say it is that if you dont have hips, a battle belt isnt for you.

I also recently discovered the Vikings TActics Belt:
http://www.vikingtactics.com/prod_vtac_belts.html

YouTube video of belt:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-EwtrXhb124

It's a bit spendy, but I like the ability to use the MOLLE or the Belt for attachment.
