Re: What have you bought lately? (Bug Out Version)
Picked up 2 victorinox Swiss Army knives from target last night. They were on clearance for $5 each. One went in my briefcase I carry everyday and one went in my GHB that I keep in the office.
Re: What have you bought lately? (Bug Out Version)

FINALLY some aluminum stakes. 10 stakes for a total weight of 3oz.
More stakes on the way, and plans for a future pack of MSR Groundhogs to supplement.
Re: What have you bought lately? (Bug Out Version)
Ordered a RIBZ front pack today and a couple more pairs of those ragg wool fingerless/mitten glove things. Gloves already shipped out, pack should be here next week hopefully.

Upon reading one of my posts you should assume that before I post I reread my posts twice and then often again after I post to check and recheck for spelling and grammatical errors. And I still miss most of them because, as it turns out, when you are home-schooled, you are only as smart as your mom.

Got a Leica 1200 Range Finder from my brother. Apparently, these are top of the line. From what I've seen, it appears to be very solid, made of metal with a rubber coating, easy to use, and very accurate.

Re: What have you bought lately? (Bug Out Version)
Got a Joos Orange solar charger for my phone. It's good to be able to get by without electronics, but with GPS, topo maps, about 100 books, email, sms, and phone comms all in one package, I still want to keep the little sucker running if at all possible -- so . . .
Anyway, this thing is built like a tank. 5400mWh battery, steel frame, big heat sink. Very shock resistant and completely weatherproof. Mfg. has a video of one being shot 5 times with a .22LR; it kept working. They also have a video of one sitting in the bottom of a bucket of water -- with the 'charging' LED flashing.
I like things that are hard to break. Of course, with all that, it's kinda heavy (1.5 pounds). The ruggedness/reliability and battery capacity are worth it, to me. YMMV
Also ordered a new pack. It's Kifaru Marauder in Kryptek Highlander camo ('grey man?' what's that?
). I've been using a Hydrastorm Cyclone with sustainment pouches for several years now. It's a decent pack and has held up extremely well to lots of beating and banging, but it's storage space is all broken up into different spaces and none of them are really easy to find small stuff in. The Marauder's a bit bigger, all one big compartment and the whole back of the pack opens up, so -- should be just about perfect, I think.
Also ordered the kit to piggy-back it onto my ZXR. I've been using an E&E and two long pockets on the ZXR, and I think the Marauder might work out better. Put the 72hr. basics in the Marauder, and just put more food, better shelter, warmer sleeping bag, etc. in the ZXR to bring the combo up to 7 days or so. The Marauder would be able to stand alone, but the ZXR would just be extra sustainment. I'm just not sure how unwieldy a Marauder on the back of a ZXR is going to be, though.
Just have to wait and find out when it get's here, I guess. Wait, wait, wait . . . . "four to six weeks" <sigh/>

The ZPAW wagon! 92 4.0 intake/headers/exhaust 3.5" body lift on 35s.(bought with) It will end up with a 2.5" procomp lift on 33s ready to pull my off-road trailer(converted 02 Sonoma on 33s) and a form fitted soft top. I think it'll also end up rhino lined inside and out along with the trailer. So many plans! So little money!

Breacher bar on top and an old rusty hatchet.
The bar needs a handle and an edge refresh. The hatchet is a different story.... Im thinking a blade re-profile and custom handle. I got a piece of walnut that might do the trick.

I just recieved the Helle Tamagami aka the Les Stroud knife. .it's awsome but there are supposed to be three little lines cut into the spine of the knife but mine does not have them. As soon as i figure out how to post pics again I'll post 1.

Didn't buy it but my bday was yesterday and I got a water bladder for my ghb. Supposedly there are other hiking/survival items still on their way but didn't arrive in time.
