Audible audiobook deals

Post by prepper7 » Wed Nov 26, 2014 6:41 pm

For you audiobook "readers", DealNews posted a great Audible deal.

New customers: get a free 2-month membership (each month earns you a credit--most books are only one credit--so you can get two free books), cancel anytime.

Existing customers: get a $10 credit applied to your Audible account.

There are some books with useful practical information as well as some prep-specific title (e.g. The Ultimate Prepper Collection: Survival Guides for Every Situation)

I've had an account for a decade and the service (and customer service) is great.

ETA: deal is today only.

For some reason we don't like deals from Woot even though it's not a membership site but this is a great deal on a Lifestraw Family, I just paid $80 on Amazon last month Woot has them today they for $47.99.

Primus Polaris LED Lantern -2010 REI overstock/deal of the day. $21.73, reg $49.00

http://www.rei.com/product/880293/primu ... 6_a792ae4e

It takes 3x C-cells and doesn't collapse, so this would be restricted to vehicular bug outs. And doing yeoman's duty as area lighting for power outages and recreational camping until the SHTF.

I own this lantern; it's a serious piece of kit. 55 lumens max definitely isn't cutting edge anymore but the inverted reflector design distributes the light well. It's best feature is excellent build quality; this thing's a tank. Plus it has a clean, no-bullshit design uncompromised by any misguided attempts to make it look like the gas mantle lanterns of old. Mine's still chugging along on the original batteries. Specs/description from REI's website:

~ Superbright Cree 3-watt LED outputs 55 lumens to illuminate the campsite; light has a warm orange glow similar to a propane lantern with mantle
~ Switch between High and Low for desired light output
~ Operates on 3 C batteries, included; batteries provide up to 6 hrs. of use on High and 120 hrs. on Low
~ Reflector design eliminates dead spots in the light transmission
~ Nonslip rubberized housing provides a sure grip while transporting the lantern
~ Durable aluminum clip allows the lantern to be hung inside a tent or from a tree branch
~ Provides IPX4 water resistance for protection against splashing water
~ Max light output (lumens) 55 lumens
~ Dimensions 3.1 x 7.1 inches
~ Weight 7.5 ounces

I have one of these for my INCH bag. It charges my phone a little under 1% per minute in the weak ass December sun. Also in full sun charges both my phone and Guide 10 plus 4XAA powerpack at the same time (two USB ports) though it's being pushed.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Foldable-9V12W- ... 2ec28802eb

$32.80 shipped from China to your door. I think it's around 34-35 bucks on Amazon. Right now they have the 8W for 25.99 shipped with 35 spent through Amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/Christmas-Technol ... 218&sr=1-9

I didn't want to spend a bunch of money for a panel inside the INCH bag so figured why not. It's better than I expected so far.

Not so much a post for a specific item but a tip for bargain hunters. I ran across this online and tried it. It really works.

20% Discount at L.A.Police Gear today on Ropper, Hazard 4 and the closeouts section.

Use code CHP2014. Ends tonight.

http://www.lapolicegear.com/

I think the best all around values for this deal are in the closeouts section, tons of different products from various manufacturers, from stocking stuffers to serious front line gear items.

Home Depot is selling the Leatherman Sidekick for $18. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Leatherman-T ... /205412687

I picked one up when they were $25 (argh!). There's only the smallest of a wiggle, the lack of scissors sucks, but it's a decent build quality, especially for the price. I might just pick one more up just to have a backup in the car.

Kelty has 20% off all sale items. And the Kelty Down 0 sleeping bag is down to $137 plus another 20% off. You do the math. Lowest price your gonna get on a sub 5lb bag that goes to 0 degrees (or 15f as I calculated). Kelty Red cloud 80 is on sale too. Nice big back pack. a lot of items at yearly lows at link below.

http://www.kelty.com/c-sale.aspx?utm_so ... off_121214

EDIT - Both items sold out. Sorry. Lots of other good deals though.

www.rei-outlet.com is having 30% off already clearance priced items. Picked up North Face, Merrell, and other nice brands for a good price. 2 pair of North Face Taggart pants for $67.46 yes that's the total for the two pair. Picked up 2 pair Merrell Calhari pants for $79.46 again that is the total cost of the pair. The shorts are even cheaper.

Streamlight PolyTac C4 flashlight, $14.99 + shipping.

http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.ph ... w/id/1880/

Yeah, shipping is extra. Even accounting for that, I suspect this is still a very solid deal on a quality flashlight. Same item is currently selling for $36 on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Streamlight-88850 ... ht+polytac

IPX7 waterproof rating, runs on two 3V CR123A lithium batteries (which are included). If I'm reading the specs correctly, this thing puts out 275 lumens for 3 hours or 14 lumens for 65 hours. Also has a strobe function.

NB: this is Palmetto State Armory, so order processing and shipping will take an unreasonably long time.
