Plastic nesting cup?

Post by cap6888 » Wed Aug 15, 2018 11:09 am

So I am trying to update my cook kit. Will be using a standard nalgene and a Pathfinder 25 ounce mug for boiling. What I'm trying to find now is a plastic cup that I could nest over the top of the bottle, Similar to the Brit style crusader kit. Reason being that I can boil water for water drink/meal and then pour it into the plastic mug for consumption, without burning my lips which tends to happen with metal mugs. Any thoughts?

You could take you Nalgene to a 99 cent store and try out whatever they offer that looks like a fit. Or, check the dimensions on this cup https://www.amazon.com/GSI-Outdoors-Inf ... B078RLMB8Y

If nesting doesn't work out there are lots of folding cups that might fit over the top of the Nalgene.

What folding cup is that? How sturdy is it?

I own one. A Royal Marine gave it to me while I was in Lympstone at the CTC in '94. It's been carried all over the world and folded hundreds of times and it is still going strong. Perfect for cup of tea. I added a larger one much, much later so I guess the original one (like the OD one in the picture) would be considered "regular" size. The larger one holds 1 package of Ramen perfectly.

Yes. I just noticed in the upper half of the graphic it's actually 2 sizes shown. I don't think there is a small so that would be regular and large. More than one company makes them but they are essentially the same I would guess. The original is Swedish and TEO's link is right I believe.

Keep in mind that was using .00002 of a second of my life to find, just so you can see. Using a full minute you should find one for around $5 US without having to pay the $4000 for shipping from Australia. Protect it with your life. Everyone who sees you using it will try to steal it instead of buying their own.

My bad. Just saw the small size one. Didn’t think to look further. Duh.

I use these. It nests in my Snow Peak titanium mug great and gives me a total of 3 cups.

Edit: This won't nest over your bottle, but it's a great little cup all the same.
