Gearbest = Fun little site to shop on.

Stumbled across this from a facebook ad. It's actually kind of a neat little site. All products from China if I'm looking at it correctly. But with incredible low prices on small stuff. Monoculars, inflatable pillows, firesteel jacket string ties, cheap firesteels (I know not to buy cheap. But for little back up ones to throw in pockets etc. It's worth it.), little back up compasses. Literally hundreds of outdoor products for cheap. Not really any one deal that I wanted to research and pass along in the deal section. But I dare you to peruse this site and not find at least a few small things you need at a very fair price. Or things you just wanted to try to see if they were of value to you. Like the monoculars that hook up to your smart phone. I mean for $7 it's worth a try to see if they are something that is of value to you.

Really fun site to dig thru. For small almost perishable items. Link below is to the camping and hiking section. They have many others as well. I guess it's not that "little" of a site. They just seem to offer a lot of small items.

I might get a few of these. Some stuff on there that are pretty cool and it's nice that it's almost throw away prices.

There is a site I've been buying from somewhat regularly that seems even cheaper than Gearbeast for quite a few items, and their inventory is truly fucking VAST.

It's called https://geek.wish.com/, shipping varies but averages a buck or two, and there are some very good deals.

My wife likes to buy cheap amethyst jewelry there, I'm more into tools, car and survival/camping crap. Everything from toys(adult  and otherwise) to Molle gear, from fashion purses to water purifiers can be found there. And don't buy the first item you see that you want, if you keep looking thru the listings you can usually find it cheaper further in.

Seems like all the products come from China and shipping times can wildly vary. I've had stuff show up within a week and others take a month. You never know what to expect. Overall I have been mostly pleased with the quality so far.

Anybody ever successfully purchased from Gearbest? I guess it's legit, but I tried buying a few things, and they couldn't process my credit card and I'm not giving them Paypal info.

Online reviews reveal it's more miss than hit whether your stuff ever shows up. Maybe it's just growing pains but the same items can be typically be found on eBay for only slightly more then you have the eBay buyer protections.

Thanks for the link. I love reading the descriptions. How many times have you sat wondering where to find:

An Outdoor Water Holder Waist Pack Bum Bag Pouch or the Quick Opening Beach Tent Shade Tabernacle Outdoor Tool?

This isn't sarcasm; instead, it is an attempt to understand global marketing and global sales. Perhaps, if everyone that reads and posts here were to offer a quick eval on products they purchase and use from one of these links, some sort of qualitative consensus could be reached. I'll save my globalization thoughts for another time. In terms of information, banking and communications it arrived here quite some time back.

I put an order into gearbest maybe 6 months ago, took a while to show up, but it shipped from China for free, what do you expect. A $5 Bluetooth earbud with questionable mic (but efficient one ear stereo listening device), Knock off web dominators with cheap bungee (great for straps you almost never move, life of the bungee being greatest concern if you move them a lot), And a 1" knife of unknown steel with a sheath that mounts to most 1" webbing straps (absolute dullest "knife" I've ever touched. I reground the edges on a surface grinder to make it something useable, but simple design for a last ditch blade I could use for fire starting etc). It's crap gear, don't spend good money on moving parts or electronics you want to trust your life on, but neat gadgets that fill niche needs you can live without, worth a try.

It's kind of like Harbor Freight: some of the stuff is just garbage, but their inventory does contain a few diamonds in the rough (HF corded electric impact wrench, for example).

Anyone who's found similar gems from Gearbest, Banggood or other sites like this - especially prepping related items - please post about it. I guess if you've been particularly disappointed like Bull with his GB sheath knife, let us know about that too. TIA.

I noticed they also have a kickback program. If people buy something after entering through a link you shared, you can get free stuff. Seems to be a pretty popular gimmick these days.

ETA: Apparently they also use the same spam trap email BS as Sportsman's Guide.

I order from Gearbest regularly and have had great experiences. It does take anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks for the items to arrive from Chine but it's worth the wait for a lot of the products.

Screw them. Advertise free shipping on everything and then proceeded to charge me for shipping. I won't use them again. I prefer banggood.com

I went back to Gearbest for some cheap stuff for a small survival kit. And got the bug again. I found some other stuff I like. But need a little more convincing or not convincing arguments to buy them?:

1) Tell me I should buy a brass Trangia? But I really like the little wind break/pot stand. Seriously. Much more stable than my fancy feast can. lol. Or should I look at a different pot stand that is WAY cooler and super cheap too?! Or should I buy a brass Trangia and just use the pot stand from this for 10 bucks?

2) I like to throw these in non-essential or extra locations like my car kit and just to have as extras. I have really nice ones in my BOB and INCH. Or am I wasting my money on some form of inferior milar blanket material I'm unaware of?

3) If platypus makes one of these it's probably 30 dollars. Thinking about just putting this in my hunting/hiking pack. Might be a nice lightweight way to carry water to camp. Or is it just a pos that will leak all over the place first go?

4) It's about one step up from a button compass. But better than a button compass as a backup. I'm thinking mainly for the car kit or for caches. So if it gets stolen I don't really care. I could drop another 20(?) on another Suunto. But this thing is a dollar?!!! A dollar!!! ;) LMAO!

That's all for now. I actually whittled this down from about 10 items. So I feel pretty good about not buying crap just to buy it.

? Are you implying those are affiliate links above? I have no connection to Gearbest. Other than I'm a sucker for cheap but good gear.

Just bear in mind Gearbest is basically a lottery. Some people come out of the deal fine, some come out screwed. As long as Gearbest has the money, they don't care. They're pretty much mercator non grata in 3d printing circles.

I'd make sure to put any transactions on a credit card so that if you get stung, when Gearbest kicks into their usual "Eh, whatever" customer service pattern you can reverse the charge.

I had good experiences with Gearbest CS however keep in mind they also sent my channel gear for reviews but the two issues were unrelated so not sure one hand knows what the other is doing.

I'm not buying anything from them for more than $5 or $10. I've whittled that list down to just three items. Everytime I compare their stuff to ebay or a better option for say $5 more. I figure what the hell. Might as well get the real deal instead of an unknown quantity from them. But that 10L water bag looks ok. I might get that.
