I EDC the Kershaw Multitool. No one knows about this thing. The pliers have an adjustment so they act as vise grips. The serrated knife has a thumb tab and can be deployed with one hand very easily.

I think I mentioned the Kershaw either in this thread or some other random multi-tool thread - my Dad, an avid motorcyclist, EDC's one. He loves the thing.

Go get a Gerber Suspension and tell me how that worked out for you.

I don't know about anyone else's experiences with them, but I'm putting mine through hell and really like it thus far. My roommate has had one for a year or so longer than I have, and really likes his also.

I had a "Winchester"-branded Walmart special before my Suspension, and the Winchester was a piece of shit. It looked a lot more cheaply made than the one the other guy posted from Walmart. You basically needed to carry a screwdriver around just to pry any of the blades open to use them. They apparently carry 2 models of "Winchester" brand multitools, his is the better of the 2, mine was the crappier of the 2.

2 accounts on this board of them breaking while being used as pliers. My own personal account of the pliers gettting loose and wiggly after sitting in the center console of my truck for the last year. Used very little. Mine also got a few spots of rust on it while sitting in the center console of my truck.

Many more accounts on the 'nets regarding failure of the Suspension, some with video.

The first day I got it one of the retaining pins immediately busted right out of the box after I got it home. I opened it up and it came apart. No big deal so I just took it back 1 hour after buying it and the store replaced it.

Also, odd shape makes it hard to find an after market sheath for it or pack it into something like an inner pouch of a bag or some such. Supposedly "ergonomic" curves of handle aren't ergonomic. Positive thing though - spring assisted pliers.

I recommend them for folks who will not use it much but as a "tool" not so much. I gave mine to one of our local ZS members here and I think it will work perfect for her.

You and yours may have had good luck but many others have not.

Good info, thanks. I'll keep an eye on mine and be on the lookout for something sturdier for when bites the dust.

I love my Leatherman Skeletool CX. It's pretty light and has all the features I need. The carabiner on it is nice, I can clip it to anything.
