Once again, compared to the rest of the weapons that only fire kittens and give people orgasms.

In my mind and from the book, the Eyrie was more cut into the side of and on top of a very steep mountain, yet the show seems to have it just sitting by itself as a tall tower in the mountains. The book has them travelling for days up steep very narrow paths yet the show has them riding horses almost all the way to the front gates, it seems. Yes, I know, they can't do everything the same as in the book, but I was hoping they would really make the Eyrie seem as impregnable as it seemed in the books.

And no Blackfish!

Well.. They do have to cut out characters and scenes that they felt don't fit well into the limited time frame. It's like all the people up in arms when Tom Bombadill wasn't in FOTR.

But come on. You have to put in the Blackfish just for the punk out that he gives Jamie Lannister in AFFC.

Yeah, I am hoping they still work him in. There are ways to do it that can still make it all work.
Spoilers from the last episode
I'm not normally offended by homosexual behavior on TV, especially from HBO, but I was a bit taken back by the scene with Renly and Loras. I know that in the books the author hinted at it, but unless my brain erased that chapter, it never happened. It's scenes like this that bother me... (not the activitywhen they decide to throw in something obvious instead of leaving you guessing like the book did. Come on guys, be creative. Have them flirt more, have them make suggestive looks and maybe a little too long of a hug. But having Loras shave Renly then go down on him?!?!? Really?!?!?

Mannlicher wrote:I started reading Martin's books when they first came out in, I believe, 1996. "hooked", does not begin to describe how much I liked the book Game of Thrones, and the subsequent books. The first four books took damn near 10 years. It is hard to stay 'psyched' about a series when there is that much time delay. The 5th book, A Dance with Dragons took yet another 6 years. I honestly don't believe Martin will ever finish the stupid series.
A good parallel with this novelistic debacle is The Wheel of Time series. In that case, the author managed to DIE before finishing the series.
I'll be honest, the two examples above have put me off on starting any new SF series. I won't be led down the primrose path of 'wait for the next installment' again.
