Last Of Us...

Postby SeerSavant » Wed Aug 08, 2012 11:16 pm

Not being a big gamer, I don't often look for games, but a buddy of mine is a nearly rabid gamer... Knowing my prepper mentality, he sent me a few links on this game...

The Last of Us...

No zombies, no aliens, not portals to hell, nothing at all like that...

Twenty years after a fungal parasite crossed over and decimated much of humanity, we have people living in strict quarantine zones, not much contact, and assuming that the rest of the world is tits up as well...

I was honestly blown away by this...

EDIT; there is language and some severe violence in these clips, so borderline NSFW warning.... it's brutal in places...

Trailer;

Gameplay trailer, the truck ambush;

And Seven minutes of actual gameplay recorded at a video game something or another;

It appears I may have to buy a PS3 when this comes out late next year, or early 2014.....

What do you think?

Yeah ive had my eye on this one as well. From what I gather its going to be released late this year or next year. When you get your ps3 look into a game called "I am alive"

Seer! So glad you recognize this enigmatic title for what it potentially is: a mature, character-driven gaming experience with a intricate and compelling plot. There are a few threads on The Last of Us over in the Combat Simulations forum, the most recent (and active) being:

http://www.zombiehunters.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=95288

Join us! It's reported influence is No Country for Old Men in it's treatment of in-game violence: brutal, shocking and full of emotional and ethical consequence. It's also been described as a tale of redemption and a surrogate father/daughter love story, a narrative theme very dear to my heart. :wink:

You're not the only reluctant gamer on these boards who is so intrigued by this title that they may just have to invest in a refurbished PS3 next year to see if it can possibly live up to the hype.

Cool, mebbe one of the mods can merge the two so we don't have any redundancy...
