Is this series any good? I want to watch it in my free time but I'm pretty insecure if I should buy it. What do you guys think?

Yeah, If you found used DVDs of it or something it'd be a buy. Otherwise, not so much. Maybe catch up thru Netflix?

Didn't find anything on Netflix, I will search more.
I'm not gonna buy it then, maybe I could rent it from the iTunes store.

As soon as they were told that there are hot showers in Charleston me and the better half looked at each other and she said to me "Hot showers? Isn't that what the Nazis told the Jews they were getting in the concentrations camps?"
As a ham radio operator it's driving me crazy hat someone hasn't found a Kenwood or Yaesu HF radio and tuned around trying to get intel before committing to a road march to South Carolina where there MIGHT be a settlement of humans. At least send out a scout with enough gas to get there and back.

That's a good point! But I'm not sure if they still have any kind of long range communication. It always seems the scouts don't go more than 5-10 miles out and it'll show everyone using crappy walkies. Another thing that makes what you're saying pretty possible is in the first ep of the season, the "fish head" told Tom how they have studied humans history of self oppression...So maybe they are using that exact trick? "Hot showers are like cat nip for humans"

IIRC they were messing about with radio in the first season and gave up on it pretty much.

I really wanted to like this show, tried to two or three times. Just can't.

I keep hoping it'll get better, I really do. It had so much potential for awesomeness.

Now, I just keep watching cause well, I started the damn thing, and my integrity demands I see it thru till the bitter end. :ohdear:

It is something to watch while waiting for The Walking Dead to come back.

It is not so horrible I just have to walk away, but not so good I look forward to it. It is just decent enough that I will keep watching.

I started watching it while waiting for The Walking Dead to come back on also. But I've actually began enjoying it.

I liked the episode tonight. It didn't have any actual combat scenes or anything like that but I thought it was good. I felt as if it went a bit too fast to be honest. I wanted to see more of Charleston's people and the sense of complacency they have fallen into. You start seeing that in scenes like the heart surgeon whose too smug to deal with the children, or the "by the book" military types who are green as hell.

One thing that always bothers me with TV/movies is the gun grabbing as soon as there is any sense of "safety" or "government" or anything like that. In order not to go off on some political tangent let me just say that I wouldn't give up my guns under normal circumstances(like right now). How anyone could give them up or how someone would try to gun grab while the world is under an alien invasion is beyond me.

I can't wait for next week but I get the feeling I'm going to be disappointed. Not because the episode will be bad but just because there is only so much you can fit in an hour. Based on the preview scenes I saw it seems they kicked the last episode into high gear but how much can they really fit into such a small time? It would be great if it was a 2 hour event.

Finally got caught up on the DVR today and watched tonight's episode... (Off color is for potential spoilers)

A; I get it, filming in darkness is cheaper, and I do like the overall gritty look to the show, but dammit, does every damn vehicle need to run with their highbeams on???

B; Yeah, got some talent on the show, Dale Dye, Matt Frewer, and Terry O'Quinn all of whom I hope become regulars... "charleston" as I recall when i went there, have no idea where that bridge came from, and knowing it as a harbor town, why the hell anyone would build an underground, what, mall? so close to a waterway in an obvious hurricane surge route... Oh, wait... yeah, nevermind.

C; I'm coming to grips with the main character being all touchy feely and whatnot, but it's getting a bit old... yeah, he loves his kids, yeah he's an idealist... but the show needs a Shane Archetype to balance the act... Pope's a joke, the Captain's kinda back and forth.... But the point is.... FIRE THE WRITERS!!! start with some scrip ideas that aren't cribbed from better material...
Was anyone surprised that "charleston" wasn't what everyone expected?
Now with the "twist" cliffhanger, I'm looking at the television and shaking my head...

So much missed opportunities...

My advice... Charleston could have been a slow burn, a season three where the community self destructs slowly, etc...

More run and gun stuff folks... The road to charleston should have taken A LOT LONGER... Stop with the cliff notes storytelling crap...

Although... a few episodes back... When faced with another give up cause your kids being mentally controlled/threatened/etc, at least this time Tom turned and shot the "overlord".... Bout damned time...

It's fun enough to keep watching, but dammit, it's so derivative I don't know if I'm enjoying it or not....

Sigh....

Just a little longer until the walking dead is back on....

After last week's episode, I figured the Olympic closing ceremonies would be more exciting and watched those instead.

Yeah… I am trying, really, really trying. I understand the whole ‘bad enough that it irritates me’ and ‘good enough that I can’t stop watching’ dichotomy. Like most of you, my feelings towards FS are is a combination of ‘Hey, this has some cool potential! I wonder where they are taking it?’ 8-) swiftly alternating with ‘Oh for the love of…really?! You are going to throw that in/out/away!?!? Seriously?!”

I probably consider it more than just a placeholder until the Walking Dead comes back. I do not believe that I will stop watching once that happens, I will probably just not watch it live but us “On Demand” during the week to do so.

Hopefully someone realizes that the writers need to go. I am also looking forward to this http://www.nbc.com/revolution/-someone mentioned loving Jericho- Maybe Revolution will be a spiritual heir to it. If it does work out to be that way, then FS might just drop from my view schedule, unless it goes to Netflix.

Yep SeerSavant that about sums up my feelings too.

The show has a lot of potential but has been having a bad time executing it. these last couple episodes seem like they have been rushing to get to the Charleston set. They really skipped over a lot of possible stuff.

I was actually expecting Charleston not to show until the final episode of the season. I do agree that the events that took one episode in Charleston could have been better done spread out over the next season, maybe not the entire season, but they could have taken 3-6 episodes to tell the story making it more involved.

Of course since they did rush it, it makes me wonder what the new situation will turn into. But there is limited time left for this season, and the sneak peak for the next episode made it look like it will be pretty much action packed and nonstop. That makes me think story development will take a back seat to exciting special effects and action.

Well as you mention, Walking Dead is only a little ways away.

And as mr_slappy75 mentioned, Revolution is coming soon. While this new show looks to have some issues with believability due to the premise of no power and clean clothes etc, it still looks like it could be interesting. I can over look those things if it has a good enough storyline.

I was very upset with this last episode. I understood why, but to have them thrown into a coup at the end makes it beautiful. There is no way The Second Mass can stay now unless they are in charge. No matter what there will be resentment.

I was actually pretty surprised that happened so fast. Usually a coup is drawn out way too long. Every military officer or NCO I've Ever met would have nipped that in the bud as quickly. Actually I'm more interested in the show now. If they'd have dragged it on, I probably would have tuned out until next season.

Yes, now it has my attention. I'm hoping it will all be resolved in the next episode. I'm curious to see how they resolve the drama between the Charleston regulars and the Second Mass.

I'm guessing during the first action they have when the 2nd Mass vets hand the aliens their ass while the "never fired a shot" Charleston regulars are cowering behind cover they'll earn their respect. Especially when one of the young teens turn to them in a fire fight and say "what are you doing, you can't fire your weapon from down there."

I thought this last episode was the best so far. I think its the only episode that hasn't had me at some point wanting to throw something at the screen.
