I have to take a brief hiatus to fulfill other obligations but I look forward to returning to the story. Thanks again for the phenomenal interest. The story topped 10k page views yesterday. Incredible. You folks are an inspiration to me.

Edit to add, Friday 10/12: I've resumed writing the story and may have a new installment up in a day or so. James makes another discovery, then calls the meeting of the new group. New characters will be developed and a bigger picture of wider events will emerge.

Haha

Where men expect a hatchet fight to pick a winner, a woman solves it all with a smile, a compliment, and a cup of coffee

While anything could happen, it's in the best interests of everyone involved if they can find a way to work together. Cindy has an interest in preserving the peace, and she is also a check on Rob's ambition. She was happy with the idea of a park ranger for a husband. Being a Sheriff's wife isn't as much to her liking.

The meeting is coming up. Let's find out what people have to say.

ETA: I hope folks aren't disappointed with the way things are turning. I can only write it the way I can write it.

love the story, and I think your plot and dynamics are highly plausible

I've been mocking up book covers. Any thought on these? The pic is just one I had on hand from a hiking trip. The font is Charlemagne Standard. I did a color and a B&W. The Gore Vidal quote is fake.

There will be more story added tomorrow afternoon or evening. I have another 2000 words or so already, and more to come.

I for one like the way things are going. Can't wait for the meet and greet, got a feeling someone is going to try and push their authority a little(not James either).Hmm how long till Rob begins to wonder about Cindy's fidelity?
This is really getting good.

I like the BW one myself.

Another vote for the B&W cover.

Dogbane, throughout the story you have three or four different spellings of McReady. It's a little distracting. :)

Yes, sometimes I accidentally spell it MacReady or McCready (I work with a McCready). If there are any other spellings, let me know so I can do a find/replace. Thanks for the head's up. I haven't been backreading except to remember what I wrote about a particular thing.

ETA: I just did a replace and got 0 MacReadys, 0 MacCreadys, and 2 McCreadys. Please let me know of any other spellings.
