You chose (B)

Deciding on patience over valor, you continue crouching down on the left side of the room under partial cover of some broken benches. The large, slouching figure in the doorway stands there still as a statue for a muscle cramping eternity and the smell only grows worse in the musty wet interior of the room around you.

After what seems like an eternity, you hear a muffled grunt and the figure shambles past the doorway into the darkness beyond. The slight, feeble brownish-yellow light from the miner's lamp finally gives out and leaves you in utter darkness. You can hear shuffling footsteps growing distant from out in the hallway past the door.

What will you do?

You Chose (B)

Muttering under your breath at the loud pop that your knees make, you stand up from crouching and turn on the penlight.
A bright beam of light flares out, momentarily dazzling your eyes from the near pitch darkness and sheds more detail than the crumbling luminescence from the miner's lamp. Rust predominates the room around you, that and mildew from the ever present moisture hanging in the air. You waste little time in gathering up what meager supplies you've found and heading out the door to the hallway.

You discover that the hallway is made up mostly of small ceramic tile-work, all painted a sickly pale green that once may have been pastel. Thoughts of abandoned subway tunnels and old factory basements cross your mind as you cautiously look both ways.

To your right you can barely make out a flickering florescent bulb some 300 yards distant, down a straight hallway. To your left is more darkness, but at the edge of the beam thrown by the penlight is a pair of ragged boots connected to equally ragged legs that disappear into the blackness of the hallway.

Something tells you that you probably need a weapon out.

What will you do?
(A) Pull out my trust claw hammer
(B) The .45 ACP should do the trick
(C) Nah I'm all good, got my ham-bones already out
(D) Reader's choice -describe in comments

(A) Hammer, definitely the hammer, don't need ammo for that. better to keep the gun for later when I DO need it.

B. If it's slow enough that a hammer is sufficient then I can always holster the pistol and pull out the hammer.

You Chose (B)

You give a quiet grunt as you heft the handle of the claw hammer in your left hand...it feels good there somehow but you're not sure just why. The logical part of your mind kicks in however and the hammer is replaced quickly with the ungainly .45 which weighs down the hand with deadly intent.

The penlight reveals little else on either side of the hallway so you choose to investigate the shoes/legs situation first (after listening closely for any stray sounds).

As you approach the body lying prone on the cracked concrete floor, the first thing you notice is that your senses are becoming a little more clear now. Your head is a little less foggy and you get a serious sense of foreboding when you step up to investigate.

A vague, trembling deja-vu grips you when the penlight burns away the darkness covering this bloody corpse.

The body at your feet is sprawled out face-down and is wearing dark gray coveralls smeared with coagulated gore.

What will you do?
(A) Kneel down and check for a pulse
(B) Shake my head and turn around to walk the other way
(C) Turn the body over to see it's face
(D) Reader's choice

C Sounds like the most "human" response to seeing someone unconscious lying face down.

You Chose (C)

The trembling penlight in your hand refuses to illuminate much more of the person lying face down in this hallway from where you're standing. After a few seconds of mental debate your humanity wins out and you step over to check on your fellow human being.

You quietly curse the loud crunching of broken ceramic tiling as you kneel down beside the body looking carefully for clues. The first thing that catches your eye is the dark gray coveralls and scuffed work-boots. A grunt escapes your chest as you turn the heavy bastard over with your free hand and falls silent as you stare down at the man.

He is wearing several days stubble on his dirty and bloody face, a beard really. The look of horror painted on his face in death makes you wince a little and is nothing when you continue down and see the horrible shredded mess that was once his throat and right shoulder. His coveralls are ever torn apart, revealing more ghastly wounds on the man's chest.

Your eyes stop dead on the name tag however. It reads: CONNOR

What will you do?
(A) Examine the body in further detail
(B) Fuck this creepy shit, head the other direction
(C) Fuck this creepy shit, head down the dark hallway
(D) Reader's choice
