There were no spoilers in that post, and I wasn't saying I could write something any better (if I had time to write!), I just can't let what I perceive as bigotry or prejudice pass without saying something. I think it's part of getting old. I'm REALLY enjoying the story and learning a lot from the prepping how-to parts of the story.

We spoke of this politely in pms; so why you insist on bringing it back up in public with a challenging tone, I do not understand.
If you recall the pms, I was stating it as a reminder to the entire thread, not directly to you.

Oh heavens!
I am so sorry - you and zombiepreparation were posting similar posts at approximately the same time.
It was with him/her I had the pm conversation.

Oh hey, I remember that! :D When I read ZG's post about quoting spoilers:
ZombieGranny wrote:Please do not quote spoilers from the story.

I'd wondered if *I* had made a mistake and quickly PMd her to ask. She replied she was just 'reminding' in general.

But just to be sure I asked again after my next post which was rather in-depth about a 'specific' scene in the story.

Kathy did post to the "When All the Doors Close" on Thursday the 28th saying they got through the hurricane OK but had a lot of clean up and minor repairs to do on their house and their other properties.

I haven't made it to the "end" of MJOTZY yet, but I was curious about the TIMS story and tried to register at that Squirrel site. I still haven't been accepted - and my email address doesn't have "evil" or "zombiegurrl" or anything in it. Started reading TIMS at the blogspot site and the first comment in the comment section was from someone who'd been banned from that squirrely site for visiting it too many times. WTH?

They are worried about people getting information without giving any.
Personally, I always feel people need to learn before teaching.

Exactly! I usually "lurk" for quite a while on any forum I visit before posting anything- getting the lay of the land, so to speak. And I wasn't born prepping- or or reading, or driving- I learned from those who knew more than I did! :ooh:

This kind of post always makes me cringe. If you search back in this story, you will notice Kathy began to write less on this story after pointless negative comments similar to this. Bigotry? Prejudice? Just because this story doesn't have a strong black character? I'm American Indian, and that never crossed my mind. I wonder if the Chinese readers , or the Russian readers, or oh my gosh perhaps someone of Eskimo or Japanese roots feels slighted. . .

I'm getting on in years myself, and have a low tolerance for anyone throwing around hurtful words for absolutely no reason. The way that I see Kathy's stories, and I have read them all, is that she writes what she knows, and she is great at it. Latino, Hispanic.. wonderful recipe's and bits of culture that I enjoy learning about so much.

Are we so insecure that we must insist that every author posting free entertainment, and education here cater to all our races or be offended? Or just your race? Can you not just enjoy the stories without bringing racism into it? The only prejudice I notice in this whole thread is from you. If you are as old as you say, and are so easily offended, then you are probably too old to learn to accept and be grateful for the wonderful free gifts in life, like this story. There aren't many writers of this caliber posting free stories. Thanks for doing your part to destroy an authors excitement to post moAr...

Iv had my say, and will post nothing more to you about this. If you begin a rant, don't expect to suck me into it. I am long past tired of such things.

1) Actually, that bit of discussion seems to have been brief and done, 'til this (second to) last post...
2) i've never met or communicated with Kathy, I have no real idea what her personal take on this may be. Sissy, a fictional character, is the narrator of this story.
3) The fictional character Sissy does indeed say something, in this fictional piece, that would have gotten a real life ZS poster warned, and probably thread locked for review, at least temporarily. Somebody commented on that. However, the ZS rules for fiction are neccesarily a little looser than for us real life folks.

Like I said, I have a number of issues with the story (not related to race, there are others), but nonetheless I enjoy the story and would like Kathy to write moar please.

I'm on page 289 and I'm so glad I didn't find this story as it was being written. Would have driven me nuts having to wait for moar!

Last night my 4 year-old asked my why I always make her brush her teeth and tongue. My response: "because you'll get Zombie Breath if you don't." AGH!

FS closed their fiction forum a while back, shutting off access to all stories that had already been posted. A lot of squirrel fiction writers/readers jumped to TB2K. Kathy posts there, too.
