So I decided to watch some TV tonight, looked to see what was on, saw a movie I've seen and enjoyed before and I do like Will Smith in much that he's done, turned it on, started watching a movie I've seen any number of times....... and now I'm sitting here scared and disturbed. This movie, I Am Legend, has taken on a whole new aspect for me now that I've read MJotZY. Bugger.

Go rent the original, The Omega Man. Totally killer for its day.

Some good info for Sissy's group:

For the ladies (or gents) out there with long hair, TEOTWAWKI doesn't have to mean that you have to cut your hair. Shorter hair doesn't always equal easier care, especially if it tends to curl. I know this from personal experience. I had long hair before I went into the military and cut it because everyone told me "it would be easier". It ended up being a nightmare because of how active I was yet not able to tie it back and get it out of my face. So, my recommendation would be hair sticks and amish hair pins for long hair. You can keep your hair up out of your face and secure it so it won't fall down. Since she's running out of rubber bands (which I would never wear in my hair, ouch) a simple metal or wooden stick could keep hair up, if you know how to use it. So long as you take your monthly/weekly hair washing, you should be fine.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know about how many people are Sanctuary, Aldea and the Comm station?

Including Dora and her kids, the Korean archers and the men interested in them, and OSAG, who run the radio, anywhere from a hundred to a hundred and fifty. Maybe as many as two hundred, but not many more.

Know what your saying Perk. But long hair under those conditions=ticks, lice, and no doubt other unwelcome guest, besides why give Zack something he/she can grab onto.

Not necessarily. Lice and ticks (and grabbing) are going to be a problem for anyone with hair longer than a couple of inches. Pioneer women had very long hair. Native Americans of both genders as well. So long as you brush often and keep it up and out of the way there shouldn't be problems. Also, hair up in a bun is harder to grab than even shoulder length loose hair.

yes, but my hair that is less than an inch long is harder still to grab, takes all of 1 minute to comb through for unwanted critters, requires minimal soap to keep clean and isn't nearly the burden 10 times as much hair would be.

Does anyone know where Kathy is? I have been worried about her since she hasn't posted in a very long time. I pray she is alright but I do miss her stories.

Any time.

Bear in mind, though, that Tampa itself had more that 300K people, and the surrounding areas probably had twice that many . . . and now it's down to that few, many of whom come from out of state.

There might be others that are keeping mum, but the fires, the zombie hoard, NSRC, and zombie breath have taken out everyone who wasn't very, very prepared or very, very, (very, very,) very lucky.

If the rest of the world is that bad off (and it probably is,) then there might be only three or four million people left.

Holy Jeebus! Started reading last Sunday, up to day 163 or so, so far. Sleep deprived, slacking at work and home, I can't get enough. Tell me this is coming out on big/small screen or print. I'm describing it to my brother and wife as 'the walking dead meets the colony'. Love it, keep it up

The long v/s short hair has always been an argument for some. The simplest way to look at it from a battle point is that short hair has only been a standard since around 1900. Before that the only other time was during the metal battle helmet ( because of chailmail ) of the middle ages. In hand to hand if you grab someones hair your probably about to die. As to critters, I've spent many weeks on end up in the mountains trapping with nothing but a leather tie to hold the hair back and never ( summer or winter ) had any bug problems. If simple grooming and care kept the bugs away then kids wouldn't come home from school with lice.

Ah B Guy this is so, however if you do or did bring back unwanted little friends it is a lot easier washing or treating the shall we say little problems than would be during a post A. event.

She has started writing another story on the Timbomb site, Called the Geek Shall Inherit the Earth (or something like that).

I do hope she pops in here on occasion- the other site won't allow me to register (I have a "generic" email of yahoo, hotmail etc) and can't tell her how much I have enjoyed Fel.
