Pages 3,4,5 are where I raped the idea for mine from GD4, and BigB has a similar on page 7.

This is the reason that we post the Fighting Blog over on the MilCopp website and cross post; we want people coming to classes with the best gear they can afford with the most ergonomic set up that they can achieve. My gear, Dave's gear, GD4s, it is all set up according to a couple of years of use in what works and what does not work. It's evolving all the time, according to what changes in the world, but we pass the information on because we want to students to succeed when they come to classes.

Seriously; VL did it right. Research, Research, and then start putting it together.

And as RG stated; South Carolina.

Just so you all know, I just picked up an EoTech 512 for $200 to replace the Aimpoint.

Yes. $200. That's right. Hate me.

Crypto started a thread, and I'm working on my AAR and saving when I can at home. I suppose Dave could interject the pics and vids with his mod powers when that's all sorted, so we don't have to wait for page 5 to see the cool shit. I mean, we were there. We lived the cool shit. I just want to rub it in as efficiently and visually-pleasingly as possible for those that couldn't make it. :awesome:

Thanks for that RO'S. I ordered a thorntail last night. I'll chuck my rifle downrange a couple of times to see if I can't bust it.

God I wish someone had video of what I did to the Rattletrap.

I locked the slide back and threw it about 50m to braxton, who dodged to get out of the way.

It it and rolled.

I blame Dave for this. Throwing a rifle is wrong.

Every time I toss a rifle, I curse him, just a little...

Kutter, at least a tiny part of the weekend was me thinking "Am I throwing my rifle far enough when I set it down? I don't want to do Dani Z wrong..."

My idea of having a few of us take a final pic with our rifles about 3 feet over our heads was nixed when I couldn't get anyone to lift their fucking arms over their heads by 6 Pm Sunday.

Crypto, that is the farthest and most violently I've ever seen a gun thrown. I was standing next to Braxton when he had to jump to keep it from hitting him in the ankle. I was a little shocked.

Then that poor thing ate 6 mags as fast as you could run it.

I'll cop to one bit of unsafeness last weekend: I got corrected a couple times for not trapping my slung weapon between my knees when reaching to pick up mags and such on the ground so it swung out a little too far. That was a new skill for me, frankly. None of my other classes have stressed that point when the muzzle is down.

But by Sunday I had it in my muscle memory, and I'm glad for it. Its a motion that takes a half second, and is a good idea.

Any of you guys try those "Oral IV" rehydration ampoules? I have a pistol training class coming up in two weeks. It'll likely be low-90s and 90+% humidity here in the Southern Garden State. I'm looking for anything with an edge over 50/50 water/Gatorade which is what I usually use to hydrate.

Beth and I had some squeezy tubes of mashed banana and blueberry toddler food that we used to get potassium back while we were pounding water.

Honestly, we have so much salt in our diet I wasnt worried about sodium depletion, but the potassium leads to cramping up so we figured it was a good idea.

The tubes were tasty.

Well I ordered a couple packs of them and frankly I was pounding gatorade and water well enough that I never even thought to try them
I got them since I was paranoid about dehydrating. Just use your dump pouch as a tactical gatorade holder like I did and you should be fine. Pedialyte is probably a great addition. I could have used the nutritional nourishment. Those baby food things sound brilliant, I'll remember that for next time. Better than a dry-ass granola bar.

As for the rifle throwin rabble rabble I started somehow...

I threw the rifle once as an 'in joke' between me and Doc66, but that was it. I'm more than fine with people having an opinion other than mine about chucking rifles. As long as the shit is clear, I could give a crap. I can't throw anything hard enough to hurt anything on my rifle anyway, and as long as I don't hit anyone with it, who cares? Especially on dirt. I doubt I'd do it on concrete because I'd fuck up the finish deep enough to increase rust chances etc, and even though the rifle would be functional, why increase my maintenance issues? But if somebody is totally against it, that's fine. It's a big enough world for the both of us. I won't throw anyone else's rifle.

When I get my new light mount I won't literally throw it down range, but you bet I'm going to bonk it on a tree or two to see if it explodes under moderate use. It should also be ok for use as a bit of support while firing, so I'll experiment with that too while I'm practicing not shooting through barricades.

FWIW, I'm also the retard that seems to forget I have my pistol cleared and the slide locked back in my holster and then roll around on the ground. But hey, now I know from South Carolina that the Sig runs fine and dandy even when I get a shit ton of sand in it, and now from Missouri that grass and dirt and leaves don't really cause any issues in it either.

I guess my point is that it's nice to know my shit will run despite some hard use with some debris thrown in. If it can run through all my screw ups, it's good shit imo.

We all spent a nice weekend together, let's not let a little thing like this ruin it

My take ways from this class; We have awesome students. Period. in addition to being fun and funny, you all were very professional in your approach to the class and questions. MilCopp does things that--frankly--you don't get to do in other classes. I've had instructors from other schools tell me "I've never done that in a class as a student." I like to think that we are a unique experience.

Remember; Doors and Hallways are picture frames, get out of them.
Remember; You can shoot faster then you think.
Remember; Accuracy counts, always.
Remember; Shoot your rifle at range; we get locked in the 50 meter mindset because that's where we spend a lot of time, but it's good out to 600 meters. That's a lot further than most of us shoot.
Remember; You can shoot your pistol much further than you think.

Steel is fun.

There are other things, but I just wanted to say once again, you all are a great group and we enjoy shooting with you. I am honored to consider you all friends.

My new Streamlight showed up yesterday and I liked it so much I put it in my belt and stuck my Fenix TK-12 on the rifle. :awesome: It feels like a Surefire G2 Nitrolon made out of Glockonium instead of cheap-feeling plastic, has a LED, simple on/off function, and you can back off the cap and blink it on by pulling it to the side just like we drilled in class.

For $40 you cant go wrong.

Now I want a better light mount, though. I'm looking at this picture:

Image

What is the mount thats attached to the MI front sight rail? I think I want that one.

that looks like the vltor ring here

http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/sid=5201 ... 14_d_10068

Image

This is the same one that I broke by the last day and had shot loose the first day fwiw. Other people ran the same mount without trouble, so it may just be me. That is the one from my pic with the broken MI rail mount and the broken vltor ring mount.

Just wanted to say great AAR's to Braxton and Lee. I think Lee is way too hard on himself, and I thought he and everyone else did a damn fine job. That motherfucking berretta did just fine, so did his chest rig once he got the pockets out of the way. Braxton is a friggin awesome shooter, and you better believe I'm going to be working on getting a lot more rounds in the oval. I'm getting into mspaint after this and making me a target

I had forgotten about his holster issues. Pretty epic to see that thing flying through the air. Don't forget, I lost my pistol twice due to loose retention the first day until I tightened that sucker up. Let's all be glad for drop safe pistols.

i added some stuff in response to Lee's comments on 'primo' gear and being in shape to my AAR if anyone gives a shit.
