I've really stocked up on .22 lately because of threads like this making me nervous that we could soon see the same price lunacy up here. I even found Winchester Triple-X .22 Magnum on sale for $50 a brick which is not bad for .22WMR.
What's the US federal regulations about crossing into Canada to buy ammo for personal use? I'm not crazy far from the border but I don't know if a US citizen can buy it in Canada and transport it back. It would be for personal use only I assume. I could see getting two or three boxes of 500. It might not pay to get less with the bridge toll and gas to make the drive. Plus if I got a lot more then the price finally returned to normal here then it wouldn't be worth the drive either.
Not sure about US import regulations but you would require a Canadian Firearms license before you could purchase ammo here.

Paid about 27 dollars for a pack of 500 just last week. It was at a Canadian Tire in le Capital.

Online Firearms and ammo dealers here in the Northlands are selling some cheap bulk rounds.

Example; 1000 x .45 for $329, 1000 x 7.62 NATO for $399, 1400 x 7.62x39 for 219, etc.

Not sure why we get this stuff cheaper than you guys, unless it's something to do with trade sanctions. A lot of the bulk stuff is from China.

Spitballing, might be a tax thing as well. Eliminating Chinese competition is a big portion.

I'd like to tell ya' but I honestly don't know. I haven't seen a box of .22lr in the wild in at least 6 months. True, I'm only looking in Walmart and Cabelas. And I've heard that both those stores occasionally receive shipments of this caliber. Which promptly sell out to desperate shooters who camp by the door before store hours.

I have a life and don't have time for that nonsense. I look forward to the day when I can just wander into a store and simply pick up a brick of CCI off the shelves. I'm also looking forward to the day when the New England Patriots play in the Superbowl against a team that isn't called the New York Giants.

-$6.77 per 100 rd box of CCI Mini-Mag 40 grn RN. Limit of three boxes per day.

-$20-something (I want to say it was $21 or $22, but I don't remember the exact price since I bought other items with it plus the tax) for a 325 rd count box of Federal Auto-Match. Same box limit a couple weeks ago, there were four boxes and the guy ahead of me got 3. I literally got the last one.

It's out there here and there, just gotta be at the right place at the right time. I kept missing it and they'd be like 'We just sold out of it this morning, but we did have some in'. Two weeks ago was the first .22 ammo I've seen being sold in an actual store for a year.

So maybe the end of this silliness is nigh.

$37.79 for a 250rd case of TulAmmo BrassMAXX.

$0.15 a round! WTF!?! Damn...

Just bought a box of CCI Mini Mags , 375 round box with the "Duck Dynasty" guys on it for $26. I'm not proud of the price, but honestly it was the first time I was able to buy any CCI .22lr for almost a year.

On top of that it appears that it doesn't always cycle automatics reliably.

Yeah I think the last case of that I bought was $30, so you did better than I did.

I have 1200 rounds and I'm afraid to go shoot any because I can't replace it. WTF.

my bass pro local actually had some the other day. I believe I paid ~23$ for 325 or 7c a round. They had a two box limit and I only bought one. Still pretty high priced I think, but I had a gift card from last year to use up. Their ammo is usually overpriced all the time though unless they have a deal on winny whitebox pistol ammo.

I'll probably buy a 5k from one of the big sites if I catch their notice emails in time. Seem to be about 4c a round which I think is ok.

Just found out today, A new to my side of town sporting goods store ( Buck and Jakes) has .22 ammo and right now plenty of in for sale $4.50 a box of 50. Still not a great price but better than it's been in a long time. Still a limit of 2 boxes. So I went in and got a couple. Saw they had the wise foods storage buckets with 120 servings on sale for $45 a bucket so I grabbed three.

For the record the last time I saw .22lr in a store locally...not a gun show or on the intertubes was November 2012. It is actually cheaper for me to shoot 9mm (now that I can get them at $12.99 for 50) than to shoot .22lr. The last box of .22lr I saw at a gun show locally was $19.99 for 50.

Our academy still has a box limit on .22lr, which usually means you can get it at normal prices, but only two boxes, on days when they get trucks in.

I love academy so much.

I actually found and bought a brick of Yellow Jackets at an LGS for $40 about a week ago. Only rimfire of any kind I've seen anywhere locally except for the .17's.
