Cost of .22 in your area
In Northern Colorado, hard to find. At gun show this week end, saw bricks of 550 for sale for 75 USD. In a gun store today 11.99 a hundred. Your area?
Re: Cost of .22 in your area
Still rape pricing around south Florida. I was sourcing it from various Walmarts using their website's search function, until it "disappeared". Political rantings and all that.

.22? Do they still make those? I haven't seen any in quite some time....

They probably picked 'em up at Academy for $19.99/box of 525 and are reselling/gouging. Academy usually has 300 or 50-rd boxes too...can't recall how much the box of 300 goes for but the little boxes of 50 are around $2-$3 depending on the type and manufacturor.Browning 35 wrote:At B&S in Mesquite Texas they wanted $99 for a 500 pack of Winchester LRN and $20 for a box of 100 rds of CCI.

Here in San Antonio Academy's getting .22 in about twice/week...almost always on Thursday mornings and usually Monday as well. Gotta get there early...usually before 7AM and wait for them to open at 8. That's how I've been slowly replenishing my stocks. They'll only sell you 1 box of any single caliber (5.56 and .223 count the same) and no more than 3 boxes total regardless of the size box. The folks at the head of the line snap up any bulk if they have it in stock.
Their manager usually comes out every 15-minutes or so to let people know what they got in and if they don't have what I'm looking for I simply head on into work.
I also check Cabela's if I'm up that way but usually not even worth the trip since I normally can't get there during the week.

Maryland. $12 a hundred, CCI. It isn't available for less anywhere.
I've actually seen range people breaking up bricks into hundred round CCI boxes, so brand doesn't really seem to matter. It's all that expensive or worse.

In OR, moving mine at $20/400 for AE, seeing it at LGS's at 40/500 for Peters, local Bi-Mart and Wal*Mart are both completely out, but have not raised prices.

Out here i found one place that had CCI standard velocity 500 round bulk packs in stock for 30 min. They were $34.99 each limit one per.
Re: Cost of .22 in your area
That is unreal. I just bought 6 CCI Blazer Bulk Packs of 525rds each for $22 each at my local gun store and they have mountain of them. I've really stocked up on .22 lately because of threads like this making me nervous that we could soon see the same price lunacy up here. I even found Winchester Triple-X .22 Magnum on sale for $50 a brick which is not bad for .22WMR.

Re: Cost of .22 in your area
I guess living in Canada is not so bad when it comes to 22 ammo

Re: Cost of .22 in your area
i just sold two bricks $85 each yesterday
it was just hours after i put up the FS on armslist!
LGS~ nothing. there isn't even a price tag for the blank spot on the shelf- the whole shelf is blank!
walmart~ price tag says 23 bucks a brick of 333, but they don't have ammo. There's 4 walmarts near my house. none has ammo.

Re: Cost of .22 in your area
Its hit or miss as far as finding them in stores here, but no ones gouging. I picked up a 500 box of cci for $30 a couple weekends ago. When you do find it here, its about $30-$40 a brick.
5.56/.223 on the other hand is still out of control. The only store that consistently stocks cases, charges $650/1000. It used to be half that.

All the Walmarts in my area have 22LR. I picked up a 525 box for $18 earlier today. There were several other boxes in the case.
Maybe supply is starting to catch up?

One thought I have seen on other boards is that with the recent failure of proposed legislation some stuff that was being held back might be getting released into the pipeline

Re: Cost of .22 in your area
I haven't seen any in a while, but I paid something like $20 for 300 rounds or so of the CCI "Choot Em'" ammo at Academy. If I see they have more I'll pick it up, but I refuse to pay out my rear for it. Of course, I'm stacked fairly deep in .22 since it's always been so cheap, but it's surprising how fast it goes when you try to shoot it instead of another caliber.

I am going to take few dozen boxes to the flea market this weekend and see what I can trade for it. I am curious to find out what it's trade value is in my area when availability is harsh.

Saw some bricks of AE 40gr plated for $60 today. And two weeks ago, it was only $50.
Same guy was asking $70 for a box of 50, german made, 70s vintage .30 carbine.
And they wonder why I never actually buy anything from that LGS.

Holy smokes up here in quebec canada im paying 85cad for a can of 2100 rounds federal champion.
Re: Cost of .22 in your area
When I can find it locally the price isn't usually to bad unless it's at a gun show. I got a brick of 500 or 525 for about $24 dollars at Wal-Mart a few months ago. One LGS had 50 count boxes for 3 dollars, I think, and I got one 100 round box of high velocity for 7 dollars.
No luck at Cabelas on 22LR but the did come back down a little on the 7.62X39. Herters brand is something like 6.99 for 20. That's close to pre-panic prices.
The last gun show they were getting 8 dollars a box of 50.

Re: Cost of .22 in your area
What's the US federal regulations about crossing into Canada to buy ammo for personal use? I'm not crazy far from the border but I don't know if a US citizen can buy it in Canada and transport it back. It would be for personal use only I assume. I could see getting two or three boxes of 500. It might not pay to get less with the bridge toll and gas to make the drive. Plus if I got a lot more then the price finally returned to normal here then it wouldn't be worth the drive either.mantis wrote:That is unreal. When my LGS can get it in here in here, it's roughly $30 a brick. I don't buy it, but it's still flying off the shelves.
