Go shoot more. Really. I've been involved in USPSA, IDPA, and shooting courses for a good while now (just as the other person above). Go to a big state event or even a local event. Hell I just got back from one about an hour ago, we had two shooters on my squad with 1911s. They both had issues. Most of the on the line issues or issues during a course of fire are probably being caused by a 1911 or some variant of the sort.

That's not me being a hater that's about 27 years of being exposed to a wide range of firearms. Especially the last 9 years of my time with USPSA and IDPA.

I have to say the video made me laugh my ass off. Especially the pillow case part I was about to fall out of my damn chair

No, an argument. One in which you have been actively involved.

Oh, then I'll assume since you were paying such good attention I was replying to the posts asking if we had done enough to derail the thread yet. You may have noticed all the brony talk and silliness going on, please refer for context.

It's pretty cute that you think people can win arguments on the internet though. I just want to put a little bow on you and pinch your cheeks.

You were posting prior to that. Check page 3 in case you forgot.

You're right, I may have noticed the brony talk. I also may have started it.

Willing to put your money where your mouth is? I see you're in TX and while it's quite a ways away I'll be in TX (San Antonio) in early December for a pistol match. Maybe we can set something up money wise and give it all to charity. Set some dollar amount on FTF/FTE/Etc and work out some other factors. Maybe every few hundred rounds use a nice pistol bench rest to measure pure accuracy. Figure out a nice scoring system based around accuracy and reliability Maybe try to get sponsors. Agree on maybe two (one for each of us) animal charities (because if you don't like dogs and puppies you suck) and work with a ZS admin to be sure it's all legit and see how much money we can raise...

Not only would it test your confidence in the SD and mine in the Glock if all the money goes to a charity there really won't be any loser(though it will be your SD). I'm willing to put some personal money on the line, are you?

PS - I'm drunk and like charities. And am confident that a Glock will walk all over any S&W Sigma or SD series gun :)

PSS - I believe some amount of personal risk should be one the table though. The loser pays for the transfer of their gun to the winner for example.

I keep waiting for a legitimately snarky comment from a moderator about staying on topic or to point out any number of other board rules violations. I can only assume they are letting us police ourselves, or they know this is a car wreck of violations and ass hattery which they wish not to soil themselves with. Can we get back on topic and discuss the eminently reasonable hate Glocks elitism has engendered the public to. The "I Love Glocks" is over that way.

The topic was a comedy video about pistols. How can you stray far from that? In addition to keeping the comedy going I think there has been some decent information in the thread as well. What's not to like? :)

Everyone knows Gun_nut goes commando. IMO the thread was over after the video was posted. Where is the comedy you added?

I'll add to the flames by saying if you think GLOCK fans are fanatical you probably haven't got in a discussion about pistols with a 1911 fan boy :p

I hate glocks because they don't change shit. They are on their 4th generation model and the grip is still god awful. I swear they keep making the same gun every generation and label it as "NEW" so that everyone will buy another. Glock is the CoD of the gun community (why innovate when we can re-release the same old product for the masses to buy).

Arguably, they do change the grip texture. Gen2 was allegedly not textured enough, Gen3 was very course (I was told by a Glock rep this was for use with gloves), and allegedly wore through LEO uniforms (the grip rubbing on the shirt over the hip), Gen4 being somewhere in between, allowing use with gloves without wearing out uniforms.

The Gen4 also has the adjustable backstrap, though they aren't the first company to provide this feature, it should have come sooner as the grip is definitely a large one. I tend to wear L-XL gloves, and felt the grip left my hand feeling very full. I doubt there is anyone who has replaced the backstrap with the largest option (0.08" larger than the original frame).

The other two "changes" are negligible IMO. Reduced recoil via double recoil springs (there were reported problems with this, allegedly fixed) and the firearm comes standard with an enlarged magazine release (I wonder if there's an option to replace this with a standard release).

Every discussion of pistols Gun Nut gets in includes a 1911 fan boy... If you know what I mean 8-)

Here's a reasonable post:

I like Glocks. They work for me.

I like 1911s. They work for me.

Given a choice between the two, I'll take the Glock because they're easier for me to work on.

Nah I hate most 1911s as well. I personally think 45acp sucks balls. I do think the 1911 is the more aesthetically pleasing form. Mostly I hate Glocks because they are overly prideful about what they really designed/built. I almost said "that said I don't go into threads about hating X pistol, just to be a douche about it and post contrary statements". I had to redact most of that because I am guilty of that at times. Just as some of you fine gentlemen and Ladies are. I do try to limit the contrary statement to one or to posts when I can. So for those able to follow the rules, great job. For the rest of us continue the pantie bunch, as a churlish person once posted ironically.

Oh and damn you Caenus, for knowing me well enough to know I go Commando!

On some level, we all know threads like these are created specifically to bait others into responding. Either that, or its meant to be some sort of a circlejerk extravaganza -- not sure which is worse.
