Sadly, IIRC their finicky about what their fed, and their just above a grand each in the US. Not to mention how hard mags would be to find.

And the ability to shoot .38 spec requires different mags and a special spring IIRC.

But sexy? Yes. And one of exactly two semiauto offerings in .357 mag I think.

Its about time,
I love my coonan, buttttt - it just never seemed right that I could only have ONE mag for it, I found others from time to time - but they cost as much as many polymer pocket pistols.
If they really are coming back then I can take the bubble wrap off of mine and actually shoot it.   :D

Ehhh, I'd take a .460 Rowland over a 10mm given the choice.

ETA - We need to bring the pistol - rifle combo into the 21st century - someone make a .357 AR upper now.
180gr LRNGC Buffalo Bore out of a 16" leve-action is darn near light to mid-level .30-30.

Alternatively, a .45 ACP AR upper rechambered to .460 Rowland...... hmmmm..

Back on topic, those Coonans are :gonk: expensive. Purty though.

Thus endth the sermon.............

It is still .357 Magnum in a semi-auto and sadly.....way out of my price range at the moment.

Ballistics disagree with you.

Nah. The 10mm would do it, since the Coonan isn't a 1911.

But if you're gonna Dogan your way away from common and affordable in the name of a few more ftlbs, why not go full Dogan?

Neat gun, but I think I'd rather have one in 9x23. Pretty much the same ballistics in a case designed for very high pressure and designed to run thru auto pistols.

I owned one of the Coonans before they went Kaput. I always had reliable feeding when I used proper ammo. The local range prohibit anything over 357 mag (44 special and 45 colt being less, ahem, powerful are ok). Every time I shot my Coonan they would stop me and scold me because I was shooting something overpowered. I would had the empty pistol to them. They would look at the caliber then look at me funny and walk away. For some reason these guys are very loud. Especially with my hand loads. I wish I could find the Cell phone vid of me shooting it. It was a great gun.

I also shot a Smith M39 (?) in 38 special that ran like a dream. It shot powder puff loads all day long.

I know a .357 may be a small round, but the gun loaded is only .48 oz?

It's the TARDIS of guns... it's only lighter once you load it. Oh, it's also female.

AKA .460 Rowland -- .44 Magnum ballistics in a .45 ACP sized round - they even make conversion kits for 1911s , XDs, and Glocks.

Not trying to knock the .460 (I want one myself) but it only achieves .44 magnum velocities with a 185 grain bullet. The .44 magnum still has the .460 beat in the area of heavier bullet weight and velocities. The 230 and 250 grain loads are still respectable though, gaining a nice 300 +/- FPS edge over traditional 230 grain loads.

As for the Coonan, they work because the magazines are designed for the round, not some cobbled up 1911 mag. I've always liked them, but with the 10mm in 200 grains, I could never see getting one since I can use standard 1911 mags in my Delta.
