Has anyone tried the Nautilus Rotating Rail system for their AR. I am curious if it works how they say and if it is worth spending the money

Had to look this up. How much stuff do people stick on their ar that they need to rotate through them.

I don't know. I like to keep mine fairly simple. The idea is great but I'm not to sure how practical it really is. My opinion is if it can't fit on what you got then you have too much shit!!

I say clown shoes.

Why would you need a rail that rotates? Especially in sections that small? What do you need rotated out of the way that can't just stay mounted where it is?

Solution looking for a problem.

I googled it and watched 2 minutes of a four minute video. My impressions:

Anyone who has read more than two threads in the ZS firearms section a.) Knows better than to throw money at this b.) Knows better than to tell anyone about it if they did throw money at this.*

Had to Google it, and it actually looks more stupid than I thought I would. Short rails, I'm not sure that you'll be able to index it with something as lagre as a PEQ, and in the promovideo it looks like the people handling it has a hard time indexing the rail even with small stuff on(in one sequence the guy ends up using both hands to index it). Real handy...
And not to mention the price, it's listed at $795!(I actually suggest reading the guns.com hilarious "review").

Lastly; The promovideo itself looks like a fuckin' parody too; Music that sounds like it was ripped from Metal Gear Solid, a scantly clad blonde and a chubby 'operator' that's unable to operate the handguard so it looks like it's something I actually need.

Ok, I'm going prone now, so, let's see: swing the bipod down, vertical grip up, rmr is canted to the side also (sweet, because I saw that in COD). Now I'm ready to whack tangos. Wait, where did they go? Ok, get back up and: swing bipod up, vertical grip down. Whoops, that one is gonna take 2 hands...

Nope, not seeing any use for this abortion of an AR rail at all. I concur with Unorthodox--clown shoes.

Scowling goatee'd "operator" - check
Lots of MOLLE tacticool gear - check
Hot blonde in tank top - check

What are we selling again? - Doesn't matter

And then every police department in the country will buy a dozen with a Homeland Security grant.

The guys will be rich.

This product definitely does not appear to meet any of my needs. But then, I don't even have NORMAL quad rail hanguards on my rifle, so that's probably to be expected.

All that's on my rifle's hand guards is a bit of rail screwed into the factory handguards with a flashlight on it (on the 12:00 rail, VTAC polymer mount offsets the light to 9:00). If I get a hankering for a VFG, I'll just add another chunk of rail at 6:00. No need for the weight or cost of a full quad rail system. (My sling is on a Blue Force Gear UWL around the front sight block.)

I know there are dudes out there with a legitimate need for more gear on their rifles than I have, but I'm still having a hard time imagining a need that this thing fills. But I guess I'll leave it to those dudes to answer that.

This was my thought as well. In the time it took the guy in the video to move the tinker toys around, the bad guys have already shot him half a dozen times. And all of the positions they used to show how cool it would be if you could turn the rails are the same things I have seen guys do over and over again WITHOUT the tinker toy rail.

Actually, my biggest reason for not buying one of these beyond all the obvious ones would be weight. This rail wants you to load it up with all the tacticool mall ninja stuff you think you need all at once. Quick, someone post the picture of the super mall ninja rifle!!!

wow agreeing with omega.... this is so full of fail i lack words to describe the level of fail. i mean ive used bipods on rifles in the past... amd its never taken me 30 seconds to deply them... maybe 2.... than again with a gut like the one on there firearms instructor (oblivious several conciliated vest all as one for extra tactical safety) i to would need a bipod that is set so far off my rifle that i couldn't use say the hood of a car to support a rifle (sorry if choice of words is not right) nor could i just tilt the rifle 90 degrees and shoot like that.

Junk, and yes they'll rake $$$$ from the thing. Must have for Mall Cops.

My AR is pretty plain. All I care about is hitting what I aim at. I see so many pics of AR's decked out in every conceivable way, many are quite pretty to look at, but never see pics of groups posted. Does anyone actually ever fire these Magpul Queens?

Not hating on anyone, just wondering why none of these Mag'd up rifles ever post pics of a group or two. Even a 50 yd. group. Guess what I mean is aren't the most imporant mods done to increase the accuracy or reliability of the rifle? Pretty stuff is fine, but can they hit what they're pointing at?

Bring on the hate.. lol

That looks like it would come in handy for a solar powered rail mounted i pod to achieve maximum tactical solar efficiency.

I was thinking putting a motor on it. Just make it spin with mirrors, lasers and flashing lights. And I'd rename it the dazzler.

I really like where this is going... the knives would face forward though, not out (like Joerg's deal)... Like 5 rotating bayonets... a bayonet hole-saw!

And Mountain Rooster, maybe you have a life or something, but post more... made me lol a bit.
