It would allow someone to load while kneeling and while holding another tool/weapon. I think I just might have to make that an option BOP. Thanks for the idea. Remind me to give you a discount if you ever order one from me brother.

It looks like a post-64 94 carbine. No way to know the exact caliber from the picture, but that period would be a 30-30, 32 Win Spl or 44 mag. This gun looks like a top eject, no rebounding hammer, and doesn't look like it has a crossbolt safety, so '64 to '83 or whenever they went to rebounding hammers, top ejects, or crossbolt safeties. Condition looks very good. It would be a great general purpose gun.

ARE YOU YELLING? :ohdear: I go for the 16" because all the powder is burnt in the first 10" or so of the barrel. The extra 4" maybe slowing the bullet down. The 16" is very damn handy and light. I have the 44 mag in 16" and it's scwheet.

Personally, I'd go with 16". Most .357 loads really don't seem to benefit much from more than that.
16" to 18" seems to be, in most cases, the sweet spot. You'd get a longer sight radius, but we're only talking about a 125-150yd cartridge at the outside.
Get the 16", with the quicker handling and better packability, I say.

ETA- So pretty much what RG said LOL

Mine started life as a 20", and ended up as a 12" and still shoots MOA at 110yds haha.
I'm sure 16" will be fine, but I wouldn't be opposed to going shorter.

Cheers,
Sean.

Isn't the cut off for SBR taxes 16"? I assume this is why the question limits it to 16. Mantis and I were talking in a different thread about putting a full stock on a Rossi Ranch Hand. The Ranch hand is only a cut down version of the Rossi 1892, and is cheaper by about the cost of a quality laminate stock. So a 12" 1892 is on my "to do" list if I don't find a .357 1894 before then.

Yeah here in the States, going below 16" means hoop-jumping to keep the guys in ray-bans from showing up to take you to you and your new cellmate's concrete love-nest.

You mean the 12G? Don't IAC make one? The IAC Model 87 it's called, 20" barrel I believe... Cowboy Action shooters love 'em as much as COD4 MW fanboys.

I want one hard, apparently 12G pump guns kill kittens and unicorns by merely existing in mai country so in terms of repeating 12G that's one of the few choices available...

...and I like cod4 mw. shhh

Here are a couple shots of my Uberti '73 that I've had since the fall of 1996.

The rifle is chambered in 44WCF and has been fed a diet of full power BP hand loads. While it has had a few boxes of Winchester cowboy loads, about 90 to 95 percent of the rounds through it over the years have consisted of the following; Winchester brass loaded with a compressed charge of GOEX 3f behind a 200 gr lead RNFP. This load closely replicates the original load the rifle was designed to fire.

Got a marlin 336 big loop with the end cap. Want to put a ramline stock on it, but wondering how much modification is needed. Anyone try this?

Any suggestions on mounting a scope on a late (late 80's early 90's) model 94?

I got my dad one of these since his eyes have been failing him as of late.

I've looked into the single piece blocks with rings, etc. and just seem to be at a loss.

I like the XS scout mounts on my Marlins. But the Win. 94 version seems to have a limited number of scope ring slots machined into it (compared to the Marlin version).

Even with the 5.5" eye relief of that scope, he still may have to take a metal file to it, to cut another scope ring Weaver slot further back on the scout mount (I've done that a few times myself, so it's an option).
