* Arsenal SGL-21-61 AK-47 Assault Rifle in 7.62x39 ($900) great choice![]()
* 3x Bulgarian Waffle (Circle 10) magazines ($100), 6x 15x steel surplus mags ($70) ($170)
* Ares Armor Huskey Amentum 2-point sling ($50)
* 1000 rounds Brown Bear 7.62x39 ammo ($250)
* Hoppe’s cleaning solvent, Break-Free CLP lubricant filtered used motor oil, Hoppe’s BoreSnake, Chinese surplus SKS rifle buttstock cleaning kit, cotton rags old t-shirts ($50) ($30)
* Shooting the bullets at things by pulling the trigger over and over Practice shooting positions and trigger pull with dry-fire over and over, getting more training out of less rounds
* Later #1: Ultimak mounting rail, Aimpoint Micro red dot, 24mm A2 Birdcage Flash Hider, paint for front sight, Glow Inc., Watch Lume

Add a chest rig and Mechanix gloves at the least...

Thanks! What do you mean by Tactical Gear? ACUs/BDUs? Chest rig? I really am trying to be comprehensive.
Chest rig to hold your full mags, dump pouch for your empties, holster for your pistol, hydration pack, etc. Basically the gear you need to run your rifle in a move-and-shoot scenario.

Daniel Defense 1 O'Clock Offset Rail

You think it will be out of the sight picture with that?

Polley wrote:The girlfriend and I finally tried shooting at 150m today. She did alright: hit around the target a lot and managed to hit it once (those miniature pop bottles can be a real turd) and I did the same. I was pretty disappointed with those results, but I believe most of it had to do with the optic. The ammunition might have also been a factor since I sighted in the 10/22 with Remington.
That said, I've been thinking about getting a higher-caliber "precision" rifle. I plan on collecting AKs, so that's where this thread comes in. I've been looking at Romanian PSLs since they fire the super-cheap 7.62x54mmR round, but I've seen that, with regular surplus, they'd get around 2.0 to 3.0 MOA accuracy which is no better than your typical AK. At the same time, I've seen Yugoslavian M76s in 7.92x57mm IS and 7.62x51mm NATO, but I'm unaware of what their accuracy is.
Any suggestions as to which of those two I should be looking at first (I'll probably end up with both anyway)?

Where have you ACTUALLY seen a M76 in .308? They make them, sure, but they do not import them (MG receiver and all that. They are officially semi only, but if you move the selector to the auto position they will fire in FA, from what I have heard about the rifle from the Yugoslav civil wars).
That said, the M76 is a badass gun and I would go for 8mm, since you have a mauser or two lying around anyway.
