12 Lbs? Heck, if I modded it out and it tipped the scales at 12 lbs I'd go on a diet, lose 6 lbs and tell the wife "Look, now the load-out's the same!"

My brother, has a socom II his wife bought him for Christmas, the sob is sweet! Hey, ac45 wants to play by his rules? Let him play! Who are any of us to say it's not viable. I can think of a lot of weapons I'd trade for it, including a lot of Ar's. You're concerned about how heavy it is? Do some exercises, end of problem. Me? I can't afford it, but hey, I can dream.

If you want a lighter, more modern stock you can also check out this guy. He does some pretty awesome work without adding too much weight. I played with his CQB stock at a M14 workshop and i was really impressed.

I've never ordered from SG online. I learned a long time ago to call them to make sure the items I want are actually in stock so I didn't have to wait 3 months to finally find out my order had been cancelled. I have found a few nuggets of gold amongst the shit they sell but it's getting to be a rare occasion.

I've gotten a lot of stuff from SG. Their ammo prices used to be pretty good. About 2 years ago they had a pretty smokin' deal on G3 mags. 12 mags plus pouches and a cleaning kit for $18.99. Some were new, some were not, some were steel. I got them mostly as a speculative move, in case there was another hi-cap ban. I have more, new in wrapper, that are in my SHTF kit.

I wonder why Magpul doesn't make M-14 mags. Seems like a no-brainer to me.

I'm a noobie, so please go easy on me, but if you have a .308 rifle that is good to reach out and touch someone at great distances, why did you go with the non magnified optics? It would seem to me that the rifle would be better suited to a scope with a bit of magnification.

If its a placeholder scope, no worries, I'd do the same just to shoot the dang thing before I got the optics I wanted.

You're obviously a noobie since you can't seem to comprehend the tacticool factor of using a non-mangified optic so that proper basic marksmanship can be ignored or bypassed completely. You also seem to think that these non-magnified optics, which are meant more for sub-machine guns in burst and pray CQB shouldn't be used on a rifle meant to hit things beyond 500 yards.

I don't know what you'll come up next asking. For all I know, you may think it is improper to tie telephone cords to two Hi-Point C9 and use them as nunchuck when they stop working.

I have a question for the OP, if your rifle weight so much then you would be a slow moving target verses being able to out maneuver and out shoot someone. The point of plastic furniture is to keep weight down. I see you have a lot of sleeves/shells hanging onto your rifle. Since it's a zombie rifle, you are probably going to be on high ground plinking away like Andy from the roof top. Here is something I am aiming for:

And those weights are without ammo.

Most combat rifles loaded weight over 9 lbs

Personally I'm less concerned about weight (to a point) than I am with balance. Light also doesn't absorb recoil as well.

The OPs gun will absorb a lot of recoil....
