Kel-Tec RFB gifted to me... thoughts?

Post by AmirMortal » Tue Dec 10, 2013 7:08 pm

OK so a friend of mine recently decided not to hold on to his firearms any longer. Technically, um just holding his stuff for a while, but it's not looking like he'll be wanting them back. It came with an Eotech and a vfg. This thing is sick!

One of the extractors is broken, but I know KT will make that right. I'm guessing it's first gen.

Anyone have experience with these or comments?

Thoughts? Comments? Yeah, here's one: you suck. I know the RFB has a history of teething problems but you don't look a gift rifle in the chamber. So I repeat: you suck.

Have KT replace the extractor and then tell you what: you give us your thoughts and comments.

 Thanks buddy! That's the best you got? I meant anything I should look out for our new aware of, aside from the fact that it appears to have condensed straight out of vaporware and into my safe.

Can't wait to get this thing to a range!

My thoughts? I heard they Kaboom every 20-30 rounds. Therefore, you should gift it to me and I'll make sure no one is put in jeopardy.

Seriously though, I only know one person that has even shot one. He said it was "awkward", but he is primarily used to AR's and hunting rifles. He also said it seemed pretty loud, but it pointed well and was easy to hold and shoot offhand.

ETA: damn that thing is fugly...in a sexy way, but fugly.

Lucky devil, congrats on the new blaster. Let us know how she shoots. It is one fugly beast, but strangely endearing...

I like it. Looks handy and if I am not mistaken,do these take AR mags? If so, with that sight, you got the stone cold deal of the century of the week.

Nope. Its a .308, so no AR mags.

I put about a hundred rounds through one over the summer. Its and interesting gun. Heavy as hell and loud. Strange front ejection. Best trigger that I have ever felt on a bullpup.

Actually I think under some circumstances people sometimes don't even know themselves, but that's a bit existential for this thread.

Good to know, that. It is short for a .308!

Good to see you here again, Amir. Got some stagehand stories for ya when you have a moment.

Two questions: how does the RFB manual of arms work with your lefthandedness, and is that a tub of Deli-Cat?

Is actually ideal for lefties, given its 100% ambidextrous. And I'm not sure, it's a repurposed cat litter bucket. High class, I know.

I am beyond jelly.

I wish people would just offload their high-price firearms on me, that would be sweet!

Get the kydex cheekpiece...guy used to sell them on GB.

I wanted the RFB to be my do all/go to rifle. Took me two years to get one...I sold it. I think KT offers some great innovations in firearms, but their quality sucks.

So what specifically were its good points. Would it suffice for just hunting? Bad as rapid-fire close-quarter defense/combat, but ok for taking potshots from a sentry position?

I have shot one. It is the best damn rifle made by man. I'd give just about anything for one. Better even than Vera.
