Some may consider it too much, but myself, I think that is beautiful

On the one hand: it looks liek a Stargate or Firefly prop.
On the other hand: How much does it weigh dry/loaded?

The pricetag was the real killer: $1,820.00 for a Mossberg 500. I can buy an M1014 for that. Or a Krebs Saiga 12. Or build a pair of Saiga 12s with Tromix parts.

No kidding. Nearly $2k for a 500 = lulz. The full rail and rifle sights...so the front swing swivel is mounted in the 12 o'clock position...?

If that's a Mossberg.......How easy/difficult is it to operate the safety in that configuration?

Good question . :)

Also wondering how well does it shoot POA/POI with the sights so high over the bore ?

And , shotshell slings suck out loud . :P

That is the high tube model stock with the adapter mounted picatinney, so using the safety with that particular "upgrade" is a no go

Looks mean. But probably a prime example of why sometimes less is more.

$1800 tactical shotgun with non-functioning safety? :gonk:

How easy is it to operate the trigger with the shell carrier right over the pistol grip? Howabout as a lefty, if you had to transition?

Don't get me wrong, the gun looks kinda cool... For a lot of people that is all they want or need in a gun. I can totally see myself getting tangled up in the sling and shooting myself or possibly being found on the floor with it wrapped around my neck. I am kinda bias though as I just gave away my 870 clone to my best friend. Also ease of use of any safety feature is kinda important to me.

The sling's not a problem, except for the shotshell loops. If you can't operate a long arm with a sling, then that's a training issue.

I removed my Mesa Tactical Shell Carrier because I had issues (couldn't) transitioning to my left hand.

I went with this: http://3gungear.corecommerce.com/Shotgungear/Side-Saddle/7-Shell-Side-Saddle-p24.html. It is elastic and velcro so if it doesn’t have any shells it keeps a lower profile and/or if it annoys the shooter you can just tear it off and stick it in your pocket. It’s also like a 3rd the price and requires no modifications to the gun. In time the elastic losses its elasticiness and you’ll have to pick up a new one minus the backing but I still prefer it over the ‘hard’ shotgun side saddles.

Has anyone come to a conclusion on the weight of this beast? Other than “too heavy”?

Mossberg - $1200 worth of useless mall ninja accessories on a $300 piece of junk gun.

For that price you can get a Benelli, or several 870's.

Kind of thew firearms equivalent of putting $5,000 rims on a '95 Chevy Cavalier

Of course thats just my opinion..... YMMV

(If you are looking for a reliable shotgun for absolute rock bottom price I wouldnt fault you for going with a plain Mossberg 500. But i think the exta cost of an 870 is well worth the upgrade.)

That sarcasm has to be extremely obvious on the interwebs to be understood, since tone is non-existent for the most part?
