My new Canadian SHTF rifle -TAR-21

Postby Shotzee » Wed Aug 22, 2012 2:58 am

Got this last week. I have an AR-15 which Im going to sell. I shoot 3 gun a lot and this will be my primary gun.

Why? TAR-21's are the sex. I think they look amazing. Has an 18.6ish barrel and therefore non-restrcited. Knowing canadian gun laws and politics I wanted a "sexy" gun the government doesnt know about.

Hoping you guys down there can get them soon, and aftermarket toys come out for them.

I tried various types of ammo. Various magazine types. All worked 100%. Steel cased, crappy ammo, surplus 5.56. I was worried being a new rifle. But after shooting over 700 rounds in this week I am very happy with the results.

The trigger is trash, it is what it is. Get used to it. Mag changes are FAST. If not faster with my AR. I have a 3gun match this weekend so Ill be interested in seeing how easy it is to aquire multiple targets. The recoil is very minimal. With my muzzlebrake on it its even less. Much less than my AR. And soon Ill have a battlecomp on it.

Ill eventually put my PD32 on the side vs my X300, and call it good.

I've always had a hard-on for bullpups. That's fuckin hot.

If I drive to Canada, can I shoot it?

Nice!
Only thing you need to know for competition is to smack those mags in HARD. It's a bit tougher to get them in tight under the arm so I give them a good smack. I use mine to compete in tac rifle.

Kutter, drive up, pretty much guaranteed any Canuck with a Tavor will let you shoot it. :)

I used it for a threegun match. Awesome with point and shoot-ability. But I think cheap Chinese 5.56 and me not sighting it in well enough caused problems for me. How's your accuracy?

I too have always had a thing for bullpups, and this being one of the few we can buy up here, I've spent many an hours drooling over them.

Hopefully she treats you well.

And who says that Canadians aren't well armed and well informed?
Gratz on the new SHTF firearm!
I'ld like one in 7.62x39 if I ever decide to blow 3k on a firearm, but even in the 5.56x45 it is pretty sexy.

I shoot Norinco 5.56 out of mine too. Accuracy is solid but not great.

Had a big 3gun match a few weekends ago. Love this gun! Very point and shoot friendly. Mag changes are extremely fast and easy. No malfunctions of anykind in shooting from normal standing to urban prone. It was one of my worst matches due to some handgun issues and the TAR not being sighted in well enough (i hope). Shooting steel at 80 yards was an issue but Im hoping it was an ammo/zero question. Ive made the same hits with my AR easy. So I know its not me ( ;) ).

Another match sept 15th. Ill post some video. Cant find anything on youtube.

Eotech, and I took off the detatchable BUIS. The TAR has intergrated BUIS in the rail which flip up. So esentially I had BUIS over top my BUIS. They aren't great, but they work.

The detatchable BUIS were no name and crappy anyways.
