May ZS Postal Match

Postby elricfate » Wed May 02, 2012 10:46 am

It's that time again, folks! Time for the May ZS Postal Match! You will find your scenario below, as well as your targets. Have fun!

Prize: TBD by the ZS board. (Soon enough there will be a concensus on a standard postal match prize, we promise)

The morning is dragging on, earlier in the day you were forced to put down two roamers that had encroached on your property. You fired six shots and they finally went down, but you knew that you would immediately attract others within a few miles, even with the trees breaking up the noise.

Once you'd finished repairing the fence, keeping a wary eye the whole time, you trotted back home. It's now around noon and you're not only exhausted, but ready for some real food. You check your pantry and note your steadily increasing level of supplies thanks to careful planning, a garden that is finally producing solid numbers, and careful management of your livestock. You prepare yourself a meal that would feed two and wonder why the wind is howling so hard outside.

As you step out you realize you weren't hearing the wind through the thick walls of your retreat but rather half a dozen roamers steadily encroaching on your home. Apparently they'd not only heard the gun shots, but also the hammer blows while you were repairing the fence, and though you didn't see them while heading home, they saw you. You have just enough time to pick a weapon you have stashed by the door and put these beasts down. While snatching your weapon you notice that three of them have peeled off and are heading toward your livestock shelter.

Your mind goes to what you will need to do in the very near future... after you've taken out the three still heading for you.

Please print three of the targets included in this post (you may also use the Alternative target if your range master does not allow silhouette targets) and use two rounds per target. There are no caliber restrictions, and you may choose a weapon you are comfortable with.

Targets (as well as expanded rules) are available on the Postal Match details page, or the links at the end of this post. Please send all targets to postalmatch@zombiehunters.org. In the event of a tie, targets will be judged based on how close to the bullseye they were. Remember all targets should be printed on 8.5"x11" paper for scoring purposes. You have a total of two shots per target, three targets, use them wisely.

Remember targets are due no later than May 31st at 11:59pm (EST). Good luck!

Target: Zombies(2 at 50 yards, 1 at 25 yards)

Alt. Target: Zombies Alt (2 at 50 yards, 1 at 25 yards)

Shooting this one tomorrow. I'll be using a rifle so I hope I shall yield better results than last month.

I'm comfortable with a shotgun and #4 buckshot.

/EDIT: But not at fifty yards! This would be a great shoot for my Marlin 1894C.

I'm fine with that if you can get only two balls of shot on each target and no more, otherwise I'll need to disqualify the target.

Just one more day to enter.

I have only three entries right now (one of which is in contention). I thought there would be more.

I totally spaced off the May match! Apologies. I promise an entry in the June match. Please keep them going!
Postal matches kick ass. I loved the ones we did with the Grand Army of the Frontier.

Sorry folks, real life has been keeping me busy.

We have our winner.

Troy Adam, with a total score of 63 points. I will be in touch with someone from the board to get you a prize picked out and sent.

The following was the equipment he used.

Weapon - Marlin Model 25 bolt action 22 with a tasco 3-7 X 20 scope
Ammunition - Remington Golden Bullet, 36 grain hollow point. (I'm impressed with his shots because I, for one, love the Rem Golden Bullets)

Our honorable mentions are Musubi, Duodecima, El Bandito, and last but not least, Brothaman who shot the match using the non-postal style ZS targets by mistake!
