PMag prices up 50% in 3 months?
Palmetto State Armory was selling them for $9 a piece in the beginning of November, now they're $14.20? I searched around a bit but couldn't find a viable reason, what gives?

Re: PMag prices up 50% in 3 months?
The 9 dollars was a sale price to get rid of the older gen. mags. 14.20 is the standard retail for the newer generation.
You just missed the sale.

Makes me wish I bought an extra hundred when they were $9...
I'm back to running metal mags.
They just feel "better" to me for some reason.

I like to have a mixture of both, but yeah, I agree with ya. The Bravo Co. aluminum mags are excellent quality and about $9.hellzna wrote:Makes me wish I bought an extra hundred when they were $9...

Re: PMag prices up 50% in 3 months?
not to thread jack but do Pmags have the lip problem? where if you store them loaded the feed lip will bend out of shape? if they don't, I think on planning to take the aluminum mags to the range and have them be my beater mags and keep all of my Pmags for SHTF/ZPAW/TEOTWAWKI/OMFG! moments.
any clues?
any clues?

MP has Gen 1 mags that have been loaded from the date of manufacture until today. They measure the feed lips to see if there's any change. They are still in spec, on the low side of the spec. So, to answer your question: no they don't have a problem with that. I just acquired my 24th and 25th PMag. They're all I use anymore...but I still have my aluminum mags, because they still work.

Re: PMag prices up 50% in 3 months?
In rotation at my apartment, I have 10 Pmags (all gen 1 w and w/o windows) 10 Cproducts and 10 USGI mags with green followers from DSG arms.
They all stay loaded 90% of the time (so I can just grab a few mags when going to the range) and I honestly haven't noticed a performance difference in any of them, even the USGI w/ green followers.
Stocked offsite I have 30 Gen2 Pmags (haven't run any of these yet) and 40 Cproducts.
Maybe I'll load up a few metal mags and measure the feed lips periodically.

Re: PMag prices up 50% in 3 months?
Pressure on the feedlips leading to stretching is going to be a different issue than leaving a magazine loaded over long periods of time. Springs don't wear out from being compressed, they wear out from cycling between being under load and not being under load.

What's the dif between gens? Also are those plates that come on the pmags made to reduce stress to the lips while stored loaded?
Re: PMag prices up 50% in 3 months?
Haji,
I was referring to feed lip spread with USGI/Cproducts mags.
As much of a debate as it is, I agree with you as far as springs being worn by being compressed or being cycled.
Also the ribbed pattern is different.
I'm not sure if they changed the polymer formula or not.

With gen 2, the clips can attach to the bottom. What's the dif between gens? Also are those plates that come on the pmags made to reduce stress to the lips while stored loaded?

Just an FYI, transporting loaded rifle magazines is usually a no-no.hellzna wrote: They all stay loaded 90% of the time (so I can just grab a few mags when going to the range)

Re: PMag prices up 50% in 3 months?
Here its transporting a rifle with a loaded magazine inserted within reach during dear hunting season or loaded shotguns during fowl seasons is the only no no here that I know of. You can transport, carry loaded weapons legally here. Is it a good Idea, no but legally you can. Nebraska is an open carry state. Except for a few places, like banks, schools, etc.GeneralDiscontent wrote:Just an FYI, transporting loaded rifle magazines is usually a no-no.hellzna wrote: They all stay loaded 90% of the time (so I can just grab a few mags when going to the range)

Re: PMag prices up 50% in 3 months?
I sold most of them. Well, OK, I sold a bunch of them, maybe half. The other half or so (the big tub) are currently in rotation at Chez SMoAF. I took a bit of a bath on the ones I sold, but it was worth getting some of my money out to put into other projects. Besides, I gave a bunch of ZSers a good deal. And no, I'm not selling any more, though I may break open another 20 or 30 to stock the new vehicle.gelgoog wrote:so where are the pictures of the people on this forum with 10 gallon tubs full of Pmags?
