Select your weapons

Post by Croux » Sun Jul 06, 2008 5:26 pm

Hi, I'm new to ZS and not sure how many times this type of thread has been done, but here it goes...

You are on the move in the PAW and you can only carry one primary firearm, one sidearm, a weapon for melee, and one hunting/combat knife (in addition to your survival gear). What weapons would you bring?

Pics are welcome, but only if they're pics of your own weapons.

My choices-
M4
Springfield 1911 (.45)
Katana (Max Brooks approved!)
Sorry, don't have a picture of my knife, but I assure you it is classy!

Hmm. I would have to go with the following.

For a Normal PAW <ha!> I would go with the following.

Primary Rifle/main.
AK47 Black Widow, Tactical Configuration w/ 2 double mags <30 round mags clipped together>

Backup/Sidearm.
H&K USP .45 or .40 w/ 4 mags

Melee Weapon
Cold Steel Machette <Useful AND deadly>

Skinning/Hunting
My K-Bar Survival knife.

Now, for a ZPAW, I would only make one major change.

Primary Rifle/main.
Mossberg 590 w/ Pistol Grips, Flashlight and sling. And Lots o' ammo (Double O Buck or such)

FN-FAL and a woodmans pal. Though an M1A would also be mighty nice in place of the FAL.

I don't like carrying necessary weight. Don't need a secondary if you pick the right primary, saves me 5+ pounds of pistol, ammo, magazines and carrying gear. My survival blade being my melee weapon saves me a couple more pounds. More room for food and water.

.375 Leaver Action Carbine
.357 Revolver
Gransfor Bruks Axe
My Belt Knife (Custom made, for me by a local. Maybe not as good as some top of the line models, but I like it).

Of Course, thats if I could own guns.

No melee weapons and don't really believe in "combat "knives

Bushmaster/CMMG M4 profile w/Aimpoint
Browning MKIII Hi-Power 9mm
Bark River Bravo-1

Wife armed pretty much identically.

Yeah it's been done but what the hell, it's still fun to answer!

Carbine - My better parts gun, built underneath an LMT 16" upper
Sidearm - Glock 19
Melee implement - Not really a good idea against zombies but I do keep my Perrin Bowie carried inverted or sideways on my pack straps. I am working on strapping a cheap Cold Steel kukri (the machete) to the pack where it's easily drawn though. I don't really want it that for weaponry purposes per say but hey if it's there...
Utility - Leatherman Blast. Yeah not really a weapon.

Carbine: M4-style LWRC in 6.8 SPC
Pistol: G22 in .40 S&W
Mele: Spetznaz E-tool
Knife: Butter knife from kitchen....it just sounds cool.

They say that a knife and a source of fire are the two most necessary items in a survival situation.
I understand your reluctance for a knife as a weapon against zombies, but you should not abandon a good blade in PAW.

Pistol: I only own a cz-52 so that's that.
Melee: A machete or Spetsnaz E-tool.
Knife: Meh... my KaBar I guess.

I have a mini-Kabar on my rig. I do not consider it a "melee" weapon, nor a hunting knife. It's a utility blade--nothing more.

Should this be in WWYD?

I'm going naked with an undeployed air bag and a 12 volt battery. Why? Because I can.

SUPER JUMP FTW!

I'm taking my para warthog, my buck knife (because I have no KaBar yet), and my light-my-fire. The rest of my space will be taken up by food and water.

On edit, I just read this part "You are on the move in the PAW and you can only carry one primary firearm, one sidearm, a weapon for melee, and one hunting/combat knife (in addition to your survival gear). What weapons would you bring?"

So I'd have to say I'd bring a 10/22, and a 3ft pry bar.

Don't confuse a belligerent and aggressive attitude with the strength, training, and conditioning needed to prevail in a fight. How do you know you have the Will To Win, if you don't even have the will to train?

Now there's a man after MY heart!

I've said it before, myself, if you have the RIGHT primary weapon,
use the extra weight and space of a sidearm to pack some more
ammo for your primary.
