Mossberg 500 JIC
I was reading this month's issue of Firearms Illustrated (I think that was the name?) when I found an article on a shotty made just for Bugging out: http://www.mossberg.com/products/defaul ... n=products
There's three different versions, all Mossberg 500 pumps with different finishes, each has seperate survival items in a floating, waterproof case.

ya theyve been out for about a year or so now.
the "sandstorm" one is new.
the shotgun is nice. but PGO (pistol grip only) is useless. the survival can is a joke.... but the tube is cool!
haha. iv considered getting one, putting a folding stock and my own survival pack. but i have yet to.

No one has a sense for the dramatic.

Personally, and I know this is a controversial opinion, I like pistol grip only shotguns. With a little practice, I've found them to be reasonably accurate (well, accurate as a shotgun can be expected to be) and fairly shooter-friendly. And the Mossberg JIC's are a pretty freaking awesome idea, if you ask me.

I like that Mossberg is getting people thinking about disaster preparedness. It isn't a bad package Mossberg put together.

The universal response I've heard regarding these is, "Cool! They come ready to bury once the black helicopters/blue helmets/JBTs get turned loose..."
I agree about the speedfeed grip, especially since this is a Mossberg.

For it to be more practical, the best thing to do is pop off the pistol grip and add a Knoxx folding stock. It eats up some of the recoil, and makes it more versatile while retaining it's compactness.
There's very few situations where a top or side folding stock doesn't do everything a pistol grip only does - and then some.
