Essential Cleaning Kit Items?

Post by Dutch253 » Wed Jan 04, 2017 1:39 am

After searching places like Amazon and YouTube and seeing most premade kits appear to be very cheaply made I've decided to roll my own as it were. I thought I'd ask here what outstanding items everyone has in their cleaning kits. I'm starting from scratch so any input is welcome from brushes to something to store it all in!

I am using Otis kits from the Improved Weapons Cleaning Kit to the smaller round cased single caliber types. I've gotten killer deals by watching Ebay

The basic list of contents includes

- Memory-Flex® Cables for Breech-to-Muzzle cleaning

- bronze bore brushes

- Obstruction removal tools for jammed cases and other blockages

- tools for complete breakdown and cleaning of all critical and hard to reach areas of the weapon

- Lens cleaner, tissues and mohair lens brush for optics cleaning

- CLP

- Lightweight soft pack with MOLLE belt attachment for convenient carrying

For me:
  • - Dewey chamber rod - fixed handle. Punches pistol barrels and reaches an AR15 chamber no problemo
    - Boresnake
    - Assorted bronze brushes for my stocked calibers + AR15 chamber brush
    - Assorted cleaning patches for mopping up crud
    - Toothbrush
    - Slip 725
    - Slip EWL
That pretty much does it for my purposes

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to be working to round out my kit in the near future.
