.22 TCM from Armscor anyone?

Post by JeeperCreeper » Mon Jun 06, 2016 8:18 am

Anyone have any experience with this round? Ballistics and penetration overrated or underrated? Seems like a poor man's FN5.7...

(for those that don't know, it's basically a shortened .223/5.56 to run in a 9mm handgun. Basically made by Armscor and a few of their 1911 and Tanfoglio clones run them with a barrel swap)

Anyways, I'm curious about it just because I bet it's a fun shooter and probably good for critters... Anyone? Bueller??

Her secondary offense will be nagging.

Ammo availability sucks, the rifles suck and don't take the pistol mags, and the R variants have been disappointing. The projectiles largely appear to draw from archaic and obsolete bullets (.218 Bee specifically), making handloading tough, and there's been issues with brass supplies and properly forming brass as well.

For now, hobby boolit.

I can find the ammo pretty easily, and it can be reloaded. It is a lot easier to find than 6.8 the first several years it came out. If I find the right deal I will gladly take one home.

I wasn't impressed with the 22TCM. I just didn't shoot it well. However, I was impressed with the RIA 1911. My BIL has a 22TCM/9MM 1911 combo. That gun was a shooter in 9mm. I'd really like to try a RIA in 10mm. Too bad they don't make a stainless gun, though.

My father-in-law bought one. It's currently the only 1911 he owns. Came with two barrels, .22 TCM and 9mm. He loves the .22 TCM. I love the Commander-size, double-stack 9mm 1911.
