In the last ten years, I've only seen one and that one was sporterized at some point. It wasn't a bad sporter job, but I was looking for an all original one. Probably should've paid the asking price and tried to either restore it or just shot it as is.

I'd pay good money for a repro one if Winchester would make one like they did with the .405 and .30-40 Krag models from a few years back.
I saw one at a gun show once, maybe 8 years ago...price was north of the asking price for a nice Johnson 1941 or G.43 (all at the same show - I just about had to go the the hospital for the "if erection lasts more than four hours" )

But oh hell yeah, if Winchester made a re-issue, I'd be all over it.

But that one is a $100 more than your first two option
That's ok. It just means I have to save up my money a little longer.

And it's not a Century gun. That alone is worth paying 100 bucks more.

I sold my homemade AR to my brother tonight. :( But he loved it so much since he borrowed it, and I needed the money, so it helped us both.

Might use a little of the money to buy a barrel to do with the pieces for my next build.

I don't think he's a troll, Numbers.

Trolls don't usually post asking for us to check out their YouTube channels. Usually they call us idiots and make fun of us.

By the way, I checked out his channel and it seems to be all good.

ETA: That post from STGTACTICAL seems more like a spam post and less like a troll. If the guy replies again and better explains himself, I'll retract my spammer comment.

Hey guys, I've got a question. I'm looking into purchasing a .223/5.56 AR, I'm really looking into the M&P 15, and adding a few things to it. I have a M&P 45 already, and I love it, so I figured I would give S&W a go on an AR. What does everyone think?

You'll get as many opinions on brand choice as there are people on this board. If you can get a good price on the S&W, go for it but let me be the first to encourage you to build your own.

Much better value for your $$ and the experience is well worth it.

Most of the optics rails I've seen for pistols are heavily offset to the rear and raised above the slide:

The right one is the ALG Six Second Mount, left looks like a Bowie Tactical milled mount.

The mount is forward of the chamber/barrel entirely.

USPSA Productional National match is over. It was held at PASA Park, in Barry, IL

So it went:

1. Ben Stoeger
2. Bob Vogel
3. Nils Jonason (sp?)
4. Alex G (whoever that is?)
5. J.J. Racaza (you might remember him from Top Shot)
6. Ljubisa M. (whoever that is?)
7. Rob Leatham (Team Springfield)
8. Max Michelle (formerly of USAMTU, and now with Team Sig)
9. Matt Mink (of team CZ)
10. Casey R. (Whoever that is?)

Ben was shooting a Tanfoglio, Stock II, (aka a unicorn gun)

Rob Bob V. and Nils were shooting Glocks.

Videos are online here in a .mov format:

http://www.liveshots.net/

EDIT: changed Rob to Bob V.

Close, Left side is a BattleComp Glock slide by ATEi

Actually the right side is a BattleComp slide too, but that's not what's featured. It's all side grip grippy

Anyone done a bolt-action rifle vs pump shotgun vs lever-action rifle comparo yet? I keep wondering about ban states and countries where self-loaders are either highly restricted or outright verboten, and haven't found anything yet on them. I'd do it myself but I'm far better with a pump shotgun than a lever action rifle or bolt-action rifle, and I'm afraid that might skew the results. Although, I do have three guns that would all fall into the "entry level long arm" budget as equipped.

I might have next weekend pencilled in. Wish I'd thought about this earlier.

Part of me really, really wants to vote for the lever-gun. And I suppose if you spent the time training it could be incredibly effective for HD/self-defense. For example, a Rossi or Marlin chambered in .357 could make a great HD gun, something in a larger caliber for long-ish range work.

But in reality, unless you spent many many hours behind that gun and getting to know every bit of it I'd have to pick the pump shotgun. If for no other reason than the flexibility of ammo. Rifled slugs can easily be effective out to 100-200 yards, possibly even more if you tune the gun for it. Buckshot is...well, buckshot.

So my fanboy side says lever gun, because old west that shit. But if everything went to hell and all our fancy auto-loaders went out the window I'd most likely pick something like an 870 or 590A1.

Just my $0.02.

I wish the Israelis would bring back the pump-action Timber Wolf rifle, I'd like a .357 to go along with my .44.....The boolitz load thru the bottom like a pump shotty. Seems a little quicker and less fumbly than the side gate on most lever guns.

That was one of my pet peeves with the .30-30 I had. It was a great shooter, excellent trigger, total tack driver. But gawd damn that thing was a bitch to load.
