And, go. 100 pages and it all goes away.

Got parts listed as in stock and ordered so maybe by the end of the month my AR build can be done. Thinking for my 10/22 i cant see the front sight or the rear sight half the time. I see people post about a Williams rear peep but whats good for the front? I like the fiber optic in red on front green on rear like on my Thompson Encore.
I fly the flag of black and red, the sight fills you with fear and dread. For you know with it i will come.

Easiest aperture for a 10/22 is going to be a TechSite. No drilling or anything, but it does make mounting a scope very interesting.

+1 on tech sights. I really liked the ones I had on my 22.

Will high mount rings solve the dilemna?

I have a Remington 597 that in a moment of weakness I bought with a scope, but no iron sights. My middle-aged eyes appreciate the 3-9x scope, but the prepper side of me regrets not starting out with a model with iron sights. I was thinking about adding the Tech sights, but was wondering whether they would play nice with my scope.

I used see thru sight mounts and that worked with a 3x9. Also used an offset super sexy ccmg zillion dollar qd mount that came of my 308 ar when I got rid of it. You have to get creative, but not that big of deal. Also modded a piece of pic rail to mount fore of the tech sight. Only one screw, but with some loktight it was solid (it's only a friggin 22lr).

Thing is both tech sites and the scope mount using the same real estate, so it would depend on the scope. One reason why the techs are so popular is that they mount a lot like a scope. On the 597 they clamp to the rail, and on a rail less 10/22 they bolt on with the bolts otherwise used to mount a scope base. If you see a mounted set of them you will see exactly what I mean.

Someone makes an aperture sight for 10/22s with a section of rail in front of the rear sight. I'm going to search.

Looks like Nodak. I've never used them, but they look nice. Anyone have any experience with them?

I might have to try those. My 10/22 is a dovetail rear and the integral can kinda ruins most attempts at putting a sight on. Or I could just go back to using a low-end scope...

I've gotta say...

Skimping on sights for a firearm you're already put at least 400+200 dollars and 6-8 months into to get to what you want seems a bit clownshoes.

Some missing background there, or else I'm drunk. OK, I'm definitely drunk. So Doc has $600 into his 10/22 but still only has dovetail sights?

I think we all can agree that a .22lr rifle of almost any way, shape or form is a mighty fine riffilishious firearm to have.......

You're no drunk.

Integral can.
Dovetail.

Yep. Btw, what variety of integral do you have on your 10/22 Doc?

Related to riffly goodness: Had a new shooter this weekend. Handed her my 597 with apertures and gave her a rundown of slings, breathing, aiming, form, and let her rip, mostly letting her get used to weight, report, and the fact that the rifle wasn't going to bite her for the first few minutes. Within 15 minutes I had her kneeling and zipping 12oz water-filled Mtn Dew bottles at about 20 yards. Two weekends from now we move up to shotties and pistols.

North Fulton Armory. No longer in business. Mostly because they're now known as AAC.

New Surfire Laser/light for my Glock.

Had to mod my Safariland holster a wee bit to get it to fit. I had some concerns, but it came out really nice.

Actually I think under some circumstances people sometimes don't even know themselves, but that's a bit existential for this thread.
