Then tell me how you think that actually living in the stan would be better than your current society of residence.

Because that is not as bad as the PAW will be, but close. Having been to the shitholes of the world is what makes me nearly crap myself when I think of a SHTF scenario. Obviously your mileage varied from mine on this one.[/quote]

the reason i think living in a paw would be better is because the world we live in is a sick world. in a paw there would be no more mtv, no more bills, no more money, no more touchy preists. we would have to rely on ourselvess. and everyone would be the same. bill gates wouldnt mean shit in a paw

'Secure the boat port' - ok, so does that mean you don't own it now? Because if you don't own it now, then chances are you won't own it come any SHTF event.

'Set up HQ' - again, do you own the area where the HQ will be? How are you going to set it up? What do you think is involved here? Why do you think that people are just going to let you set something up and will let you dictate whatever terms?

'Set up a broad cast tower' - How? Do you have one handy? How are you going to set one up? Who will be running it? On what frequency?

'Establish a trade line with lower cities' - What are you going to be trading? Who is going to be trading it ?

How do you know the locals aren't going to deny help? Have you asked people? How do you know they are lucky to get help? Why would they turn to you?

Lots of questions to answer here - not to be rude, but I don't think you've thought this through as well as you think you have.

What do you think the infant mortality rate would be in the PAW?

thats exactly the point. in a paw situation i dont think im gonna take the time to ask permission for anything.

this is survival. do what you have to do to survive.

ok, say i own a bridge ok. one side is about to fall down and you just so happen to be on that side. and you ask me to use the bridge and i say no. would you still use it? you dont own it and thats tresspassing and that illegal. but i bet everyone would cross if it meant there life was at stake.

i can see where you are coming from and it is interesting.

Where am I going to go?

I'm probably going to head to my inlaws farm - a place that I'm welcome, that I have a stake in owning and know what how to run. With the added bonus that I've helped work there before and I'm married to the daughter of the owner (I've also got a stake in the place as part of an inheritance, but I'd rather never have the place and still have my inlaws around).

The difference being, I've never said 'hey, come one come all', I've never told anyone where it is and I'm unlikely to do so - what's more, it's legally somewhere I can go and it's very unlikely that when my wife and I turn up there, we'll be met by people questioning that we should even be there.

What I'm trying to get across is - the place you've said that all and sundry should go isn't yours, either now or in the PAW. At best you can hope that you get there first in a PAW, but saying 'this is mine, come get some' isn't something that we encourage on this site.

What's more, the 'army' that you've said will be there, well - unless you've got a trained army that you can control now, I wouldn't go about touting the fact that you've got one when the SHTF. Hell, I don't think that even the most disciplined of forces will still be there when all hell breaks loose, given the other commitments on their time. So I'd be reluctant to say that you've got an army that will defend everyone.

Look, perhaps you should read the rules of the site, get a feel for the place - ZS isn't that kind to people who make sweeping statements and grand claims without being able to back them up.

If you still think you can lay claim to an island an defend it with a personal army, well great. But don't be surprised if people call you out and ask you in minute detail about it all, because on the face of it, your claim sounds unlikely.

WHEN DID I EVER SAY TAKE OVER THE LOCALS? OR THAT I WAS EVEN N CHARGE. I JUST KNOW PEOPLE IN WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A GOOD LOCATION. they would be lucky.

people who live the have to have there supplies flown in during the winter. so in a paw, they wouldnt have that. and wthout the planes they run out of supplies and die.

do you want that to happen? no!

im just a concerned citizen...

I really shouldn't..

Starving children. You don't even have to go into the random horrible shit people do to each other (Bosnia, Congo-K, Timor etc,) seeing a child die from hunger in his mothers arms. Thats not a fucking 'interesting' perspective. It happens every day in this very world. I can't even.. You actually made me rage a little.

Edited for point.
My point being, the PAW is not some imagiary survivalist wonderland, it will more likely be like living in Afganistan and not being the army in charge. What hospital will you go to whe your kid gets leukemia? Most of the world would literally kill for your current standard of living and protected liberty.

the big point i was trying to make is the idea of a star on a map. a last resort. there are a lot of reasons why ths might be a good idea.

so i think im gonna post some pics of my gear and guns what section would i do that in?
