Stuck in the 'burbs

Post by M813 » Fri Dec 20, 2019 7:42 am

Hi all,

New guy, stuck in the 'burbs, feeling vulnerable with everything happening lately.
I came to share some of my thoughts to get feedback. I'm hoping for realistic discussions and not too much tinfoil hat drama.

If you find any "tinfoil hat drama" on here please point it out to a moderator. We do allow it but we have strict rules that they must bring enough tinfoil for hats for everyone.

Welcome!

You'll find very reasonable discussions here for the everyday stuff, and you can also find some hardcore doomsday stuff.

The key is, most know the difference and understand the risk management and likelihood of both.

I'm all about them aliens! I always bring extra tin foil ;)

Just kidding.

So, M813, you are feeling vulnerable. What exactly has you worried? Civil wars? Social riots? Food chain issues? Medical expenses? Globalization and the spread of disease? Job market? Mass uprising by the local chicken population?

Or does the local natural disaster situation have you on edge?

Just curious. What do you want to talk about?

In my case I live in the middle of a very left leaning metropolitan area. (Im trying to tiptoe around the political edges here.) My main concern is all of the unprepared population around me. They seem to think that the govt. Will take care of them. Katrina taught us differently. If they see me and mine prospering while they arnt, I'm in no physical shape to defend my preps for any length of time. I physically cannot bug out without a motor vehicle, (worn out knees and about 2 months of calories in adipose.) And cannot afford to buy a small mountain to bug out to. So if/when society collapses or the boogaloo starts I'm kinda screwed.

Any way what are your concerns?

Unprepared people are a potential threat to our preps regardless of their political persuasion. There's no need to imply a left-leaning population will be any more of a problem than a right-leaning one. Desperate people will do desperate things.

I am all about tin-foil. It's not just for hats. That stuff has thousands of uses. My new favorite use is wrapping my wallet to keep my credit cards safe from scanning scammers.
