Re: Concealed Carry: BUGs vs Mags

To avoid an accidental discharge when retrieving the weapons from storage... Picking them up, I could accidentally pull the trigger. Accidental discharges are high on my list of things to never, ever allow to happen. I *do* cycle my ammunition, as recommended by that article you linked.

Re: Concealed Carry: BUGs vs Mags

Also someone mentioned not carrying +1 because of having to enter a free fire unarmed victim area, umm sorry 'Gun Free Zone', for work. I have to go to local courthouse occasionally for paperwork issues regarding business so I have to secure my weapons prior. I know eventually I may have a negligen...

I did, olbaid_dratsab, and it did. Thanks for the advice. I'm weighing the options... not rushing off to make a purchase or anything.

Thanks again!

Re: Concealed Carry: BUGs vs Mags

Really? I chide every guy that makes the claim about self-limiting your ammo supplies. Okay, jor-el... let me ask for your advice then. I carry a Glock 19 and a Glock 26. Between the two of them, they carry 25 rounds total. (I don't +1 carry because I have to take them off to get into work, etc, to...

Re: Concealed Carry: BUGs vs Mags

Here is an interesting article on the number of rounds: http://www.policeone.com/police-heroes/articles/6199620-Why-one-cop-carries-145-rounds-of-ammo-on-the-job/ Wow, I don't blame him. As a civilian, though, I'm not chasing violent offenders on a day to day basis... so I don't think I'll carry al...

Re: Concealed Carry: BUGs vs Mags

So my questions are: Do you carry a back up gun? Do you carry extra magazines? Do you carry both? 1. Yes, I carry a Glock 19 as primary and a Glock 26 as backup... one day would like to get a second Glock 26 and conceal carry the two model 26s, leaving the 19 at home in the bedside safe with a flas...

Re: Survival Firearm Battery Roll Call

Handgun (Make; Model; Caliber): 10 mm Glock 40 (primary gun), and 9 mm Glock 26 (back up gun): Rationale: The 10 mm can provide better terminal ballistics against large 4-legged critters, while still holding 15+1 bullets and being more than sufficient for two legged aggressors. 9 mm as back up becau...

They also found that more compressions-to-breaths was better than fewer compressions-to-breaths, so for most cases 30 compressions to 2 breaths was better than 15:2 or 5:1... it took more than a few pumps to actually get blood to move through the circulatory system. With just one lay rescuer, solid ...

Re: Trail Gun Revisited

So someone, somehow, saw my Glock 19 while it was concealed. Bugs me. The point of the Glock 19 is that it can take a tactical flashlight (for use at home), and it can eventually be fitted with a legally obtained suppressor (for use at home). I'm wondering if it's time to trade in the Glock 19 for ...

Re: Additional Window Security

Truthfully, I went with a house alarm that includes glass-break sensors, rather than going with extra-strong glass / window options. Just more cost effective. In a full out Zombie Post-Apocolyptic World it won't deter anything... but if that never happens, it should be fine while Rule of Law is main...

Re: Trail Gun Revisited

The red dots seems cool for range/competition use, but will they be a negative banging in the bush or trying to draw from a decent holster?? I'd think so, but I also have no experience with them. When it comes to the outdoors, I'd keep it low tech. That makes sense to me. If I go with this, will pr...

Any of you folks have a brutal workout to share? May I suggest a comprehensive stretching practice, after the workout? Re: Trail Gun Revisited

I do not see a choice for a rifle like a .444 or a .45-70. If I am facing a critter like a grizzly bear (or a moose) I really would rather have a long gun. I would prefer even a 12 gauge shot gun with slugs to a handgun. Now if we are talking black bears (in the lower 48, the ones in AK are apparen...

Re: Keep Them Secure or Keep Me Safe?

Please just keep two that you can carry around with you (i.e. primary pistol and back up pistol), and store the rest someplace safe from criminals who want to steal them and use them to commit crimes.

That's my advice, anyway.

How large of critters are we talking? I've never felt particularly threatened when I've run into black bears, and that's about the biggest I'm likely to run into where I roam. Have definitely felt threatened by mountain lions, and the odd dog or rattlesnake, but both options are a bit of overkill f...

Hunting, or just protection?
Either open carry or concealed while trail hiking, depending on local laws.

Just protection. If out hunting, assume somebody is using a shotgun or rifle, and has a sidearm in case they get caught not holding the long gun.

Trail Gun Revisited

Hiyas, So, I learned of a Glock model 40: 10mm, 6" barrel, 15 round magazine capacity (+1 in the chamber), and it can mount an optic, such as a Delta Point or something similar on the top of it instead of just plastic or iron sights. A .44 magnum revolver with a 6" barrel, generally, has a capacity ...

I searched for a topic already touching on this so I apologize in advance if this is a dupe. That being said I'm thinking of getting on of these. It's primary purpose would be mostly range time, limited competition shooting, and of course zombies. So if anyone has any gripes, complaints, raves or w...
