why would you go into the woods with out a GPS? I don't because they cost a lot of money and aren't necessary. Also, they rely on satellites, which probably wouldn't work for very long in the PAW, or maybe even during a non-armageddon disaster of some kind. It's also just easier to carry a map and ...

I really, really liked it. There were some problems involving damage (it varied a lot, the last time I played the demo the shotgun was a one hit kill that blew off limbs, when it normally would take two or three shots). Nice variety of weapons, though, and I had fun. Fun is important. But yeah, I'm ...

Cool. I liked the original at first, but I got tired of how dark it was after the second or third time. That combined with the almost completely useless flashlight really started to cut down on the enjoyment factor for me.

I just might get it if and when I buy HL2.

Congress OKs Gun Industry Lawsuit Shield

By LAURIE KELLMAN, Associated Press Writer WASHINGTON - Congress gave the gun lobby its top legislative priority Thursday, passing a bill that would protect the firearms industry from massive lawsuits brought by crime victims. The White House says President Bush will sign it into law. The House vot...

The problem being that once you've thrown your knife, you need to get it back. This is in addition to the fact that you will probably miss whatever you are trying to hit.

-1 on throwing any kind of knife.

What To Do When Someone Is Missing

From The Complete Book of Outdoor Survival by J. Wayne Fears: A growing number of people are taking survival training and know what to do if they become lost or stranded. But very few have any idea of what to do if a member of their group fails to return to camp. A friend of mine was hunting deer wi...

That's an interesting idea. Especially seeing as how some people would want them shot as traitors.

Edited that statement. Meant to say non threatening people might still be unstable. Oooooooooohhh, okay. I was kind of confused why someone would say you can't predict an openly dangerous person... But my point still stands, I think. It's possible to predict (to some degree, at least) when people w...

Re: Mental Effects of SHTF

Keep in mind that even the openly dangerous people around you will be unpredictable and less than sane. <incoherent rant> That is a very innacurate statement. The fact that you know they are openly dangerous means you can predict what they will do, and it is not good. Fact of the matter is, you can...

Church bells

Under certain circumstances, they could be used as a signal. Sort of like how bands would play specific music during the Civil War to signal commands. And who's gonna think that church bells are some kind of signal? Also, bell towers are up pretty high, so you could have a look-out of some kind. Of ...
