Re: Far Cry 4

A bunch of YouTube demo videos make storming a base on the back of an elephant look fun as shit. I've only done it once; did it wrong and got my elephant killed. They're a bit like tanks in that they can run through enemies like they were tissue paper, as well as flipping over cars, but they can be ...

Well, the guys who charge you with the machete do an acceptable stand-in for Ragers, but otherwise.....

Still trying to get the hang of using the elephants as offensive weapons.

Re: Far Cry 4

Been loving this game so far. Yeah, the Kyrat money (rupees) has ridiculous levels of inflation. First level I picked up 11,000 from some chest in the bad guys' lair, and I thought "Holy shit, I was so right in doing this. Of course the bad guy would have a buttload of money in his base." Then you f...

Re: Shotguns - The most overrated weapon for zombies

Personally, I think a belt-fed shotgun would be great for certain zombie-clearing applications. Alas, I don't think anyone makes a 12 ga belt-fed. Oh, but it'd be so cool.....

Elephants need fuel/food as do tanks. Sure, they eat plant matter, but they eat a lot of it. Your elephant is going to be scrounging for food just like you are.

Re: Effectiveness of war elephants in a ZPAW

Someone's been watching Far Cry 4 gameplay vids, yes?

I don't want to be on the back of a stampedeing elephant, zombie apocalypse or no. I think elephants would get quite nervous being in the middle of a zombie horde.

Re: flashlight club

Got yourself a Mag-Lite? C cell or D cell? Honestly, if your 'flashlight/club' ain't built like a Mag-Lite, you probably can't use it as a club. There's a reason cops use them, and it's not just as a light source. Would be nice to find an aftermarket attachment that would give it a spiked end like a...

Re: Blessed weapons- guns only or ammunition too?

I had my first gun -a Browning Hi-Power clone - blessed in a Wiccan ceremony. I hear Asatru do much the same. Also, considering the facts that Japanese society considered the Emperor semi-divine, the chrysanthemum on WW2 Japanese rifles was considered the blessing of the emperor. It's part of the re...

Re: Communications in a time of zombies

Knowing human ingenuity, someone will have a courier system set up. Either in the form of homing zombies (like the pigeons) when you tie your messages to the zombie and he goes to your friend's BOL, or Zombie Express, in which you ride on the zombie's back with your mail in a pack, and get the zombi...

4th book is out electronically, available on the Baen website, as an advanced reader copy.

ETA: only thing is sometimes the eARCs may not be what's in the published book. There's a chapter that ends in "///insert splosions here////".

R U prepared fora 21-30 day quarantine/shelter-in-place?

This ebola scare has got me thinking. If you were suddenly told you were possibly infected by a patient, and you were court-ordered to remain in your house under quarantine, could you with what you have? Assume the officials are keeping the water, electricity, and other utilities on. If not, what wo...

I find it funny that they recon plastic guns. They're one of the present's anti-gun boogeymen while still being developed, and yet this film has their manufacture & use perfected to back in the 1970s.

FYI: Be a bit mindful of the container your put your cash stash in. One time when traveling out of the country, I put a roll of cash inside an Orbitz mint tin. The opening was a bit small, and trying to pull the bills out caused me to rip a few in half by accident. And don't put it in anything peopl...

I found the Glock 33rd mags worked fine in my Glocks, but put it in the Kel-Tec Sub2000 carbine, it didn't. Which SUCKS, since the hatesticks would be perfect for the Kel-Tec.

Re: What kind of cash to keep on hand?

For most day-to-day emergencies, I've kept an tin full of quarters on hand, with a $5 and a $20 at the bottom for larger purchases. Probably should drop another $20 in there, as $40 comes closer to filling the tank than $20. The $5 is there mainly for food. Quarters are for air pumps and aggressive ...
