Re: Press therapy - reloading room *chat*

Those are great bullets for BLK. Hopefully they shoot well for you. I'm a fan of Lee's crimp dies as well, simple and effective. And I feel you on small pistol primers, it's my weak spot as well. If the market tightness continues I've got an excess of small rifle magnum primers I can offer for trade...

Re: Preps for a Contested Election in November

Well, the prediction for a contested election seems to be likely. It's very odd how many large cities in battleground states have been delaying returns, which increases the chance for legal challenges to the reported results. If anything that seems to be good, as a contested election seems less like...

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

the Mrs. asked about magazines---do we have enough. so I had to do an inventory---not as many as I thought back when there was ammo, we went to the range monthly, it was nice to have 4 or more loaded mags for rifles so we could shoot without reloading every 5 minutes At least 2 for our EDC pistols ...

Re: What have you bought in the last 48 hours?(firearms related)

Some Grendel ammo. I couldn't find brass for anything less than a buck a round and picked up a hundred rounds of steel case ammo to hold me over until there isn't a shortage. And unlike other steel case ammo, it actually performs pretty well. I don't mind spending money on good brass, but not in an ...

No worries on using Rockset here, all I've got is just regular blue LocTite.
Right, but that shim kit comes with a little tube of Rockset. It can be a lot of trouble to remove later on.

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

Only issue is the muzzle brake for my PC9 is kind of a bitch to time correctly. So I picked up a crush washer for it, but that thing is next to useless. Ended up putting the little rubber O-ring that came with my PC9 back on and that got the muzzle brake timed right. Midway continues to be on the b...

Re: So, what the heck do we do about Halloween?

We had nice weather in STL, so us and several neighbors on the street sat out front of our houses. To be respectful to people who were afraid of contact, we set a bowl of candy 6' away from us at the top of the stairs so kids could help themselves. We figured that would keep people from having to co...

Re: Arson/Attacks/Vandalism in Houses of Worship - 2020

A quick dive on the web shows many church's ban firearms in the facility. Given the number of different churches shot up of late, I find the reaction most curious. About 10 years ago I took a tactical class that was mostly made up of cops and mega-church security guards, so at least then there was ...

Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

Has anyone in CHAT shot "38 special mid range"? I've never heard of the "mid-range" part. Is it just normal .38 Spcl? From what I understand it's the name for the 148 grain wadcutter load. Not sure why they call it mid-range, as it's some of the lightest loads you can do up in 38 special. Although-...

From NPR : 'Guns, Protests And Elections Do Not Mix': Conflict Experts See Rising Warning Signs - 7 minutes of audioat webpage. A " must-hear " story, imo. Seems pretty typical NPR to me, very one sided. I used to be a regular NPR listener but they got too political after the last presidential elec...

Re: Preps for a Contested Election in November

DC businesses are reported to be boarding up windows and door in anticipation of riots from a contested election. Not a real surprise, especially considering that DC is rioting right now because of another POC death. Same thing happening in St Louis: https://www.kmov.com/news/nordstrom-rack-boardin...

Re: Shooting in Philadelphia

Ah, but just how accurate is the reporting of incidents in China/Russia/India/etc.? Does it compare directly with US reporting practices? When police won't even go into some areas, doesn't that skew things? How much? How many police shootings would Brazil have if the favelas were patrolled by the p...

Re: Shooting in Philadelphia

Something to remember when comparing stats between the US and other countries is that it may be more accurate to compare the US to other continents. We have our 3rd world regions and warzones the same as other continents. We just don't acknowledge it as readily. Other continents don't count their w...

Re: Shooting in Philadelphia

So, if you feel we should just declare No-Go zones and leave those communities to self-police, I bet we would cut down on police shootings. It's not a binary choice of having more gun free zones or current levels of police shootings. Present circumstances don't really support less firearms used in ...

I picked up a Butler Creek sling for my Ruger PC9 today. Didn't really need one, but it was on sale and I figured why not.
A rifle needs a sling!

I got a couple boxes of rifle ammo, mostly for the brass to reload.

Re: Shooting in Philadelphia

There are several organizations that track police misconduct, including CATO. If you search "police misconduct database" you'll see several sources, each which is sourced pretty well. CATO took over PoliceMisconduct.net somewhere around 2014 maybe and they have data going back to the mid 2000's at l...

Nor thinking about finding a new FFL, since my usual one isn't available at work anymore. If I have learned anything about PSA, it's if they offer something on sale one week, just wait a month or 3 and they'll have it on sale again....

I think it's grossly unrealistic to ask police officers to be experts in law, law enforcement, mental health, marriage counseling and more.

I understand why the man was shot. Still don't understand why people see this as unjustified & a cause for such destruction. Interesting discussion, but let's remember to keep this discussion to lawful defensive use of firearms. Some of the chat is seemingly trending towards offensive use. If there are riots of folks wearing homemade or store bought armor, the only sane strategy is to disengage. It's not worth saving a st...
