Re: Press therapy - reloading room *chat*

More questions 1. Are dies interchangable? can I use RCBS dies in a lee press? Yes 2. what advantages does a turret press have over a single stage? (single stage press $142 AUD, turret $175 AUD ) With a single stage you have to remove and screw in each die as needed. Turret all the dies stay on the...

Re: Best (durable) earbuds for comms/BOB use

I use a bowman headset which I've modded to suit the icom radios my volunteer unit run. I would love to hear more about this, I actually just started shopping for a bowman. I honestly just got it to fit under my helmet so I can hear the radio while conducting search and rescue. haven't used it enou...

Re: Best (durable) earbuds for comms/BOB use

I use a bowman headset which I've modded to suit the icom radios my volunteer unit run. I only use this as it is reasonably comfortable and still allows me to hear. for amateur radio...in fact all my radios have a pair of cheap earbuds packed away with them. I do have a pair of sennheiser headphones...

Re: Press therapy - reloading room *chat*

A little update on my introduction to reloading If you want to hand polish, I would suggest NevR Dull from eagle one. Its like cotton batting soaked in a mild solvent, works great and a can will last years. Thanks for the recommendation, it is so much easier to use and with less mess. I have 100 rou...

Re: Heat, and How to Survive It

+1 for conditioning. I live in Northern Australia, so I get both dry heat and the humidity depending on where I am (eastern side of range or western), there is no fast way to get used to the heat, you just have to bear it. +1 for loose clothing and water. I've found that when I'm in dry heat I don't...

Re: Industrial Use First Repsonder and Emergency Kit

I've recently started working as a first aider in a meat processing plant. most of the injuries we see are soft tissue injuries (sore muscles, tenderness etc). and the most common item we use is vet wrap. sticks to itself, does not hold water and easy to apply quickly. We also have dedicated lacerat...

I'm not really the sort of person to suggest anything, but it depends on your risk level Best option: magazine out, chamber empty, safety on Good option: magazine in, chamber empty, safety on bad option: magazine in, chamber loaded, safety on Worst option: magazine in, chamber loaded, safety off. ho...

Everyone it seems is preoccupied with the generator and overlooks the obvious real weakness. Re: Baofeng Radios.

Not only do the Chinese make cheap knockoffs of foreign goods, but they make cheap knockoffs of Chinese goods too. At this point I will only buy Baofeng radios and accessories from reputable, established dealers. It would be nice to pay $7 for a battery, but I"ll spring the extra and pay $15-$20 fo...

Baofeng Radios.

Hello all. It's been a while since I was last looking for a cheap vhf/uhf handheld. last time I looked there was the baofeng UV-5R. Now there are so many options. UV-5R, UV-5RB, RC, RD GT-3, GT-5 so, from the baofeng line, which radio would be the best bang for the buck? Does the humble UV-5R still ...

Re: oxygen regulator's:

02 regulators come in a variety of styles and shapes, but all do the same basic function. However, saying that I am a big believer of using what you were trained on, treat oxygen as a drug as you can cause harm by oxygenating too much. ( you have been trained on 02 administration and advanced resusc...

might not be similar to your situation, but should give you some ideas. If I was in your shoes, I'd be looking at the culvert, the shape would lend itself for weight distribution. you could either put walls in and install the shelves to ...

PLEASE for the love of all that is holy, don't use brasso - or most any other commercial brass cleaner. Brasso gets its shine because it uses ammonia to literally eat away the oxidation layer....and a bit of the brass underneath. If you want to hand polish, I would suggest NevR Dull from eagle one....
