60 rounds of M196 tracer ammo, and a SlideFire stock. Ought to be a fun 4th.

How good are you with a lathe? But seriously, it should be a no brainer for IWI or some aftermarket company to pop out a barrel for that.

If the conversation started with him asking about a Mini14 for HD, an AR wouldn't be much bigger.

Nevermind, I'll just let them think glock was trying to force 380s on them, and leave defending glock to the fanbois.

Re: Its finally here. (Single stack Glock)

Well, right. I was hoping that context would make the sarcasm obvious, without having to put up a big warning flag notifying people that "OMG, this might not be taken completely on face value!" If the 42 weren't a viable product on its own, why even bother to release it? Why not jump straight to the...

Re: Slide release vs overhand rack WITH A HUGE SLIDE RELEASE

If it hasn't gone at least half a decade without a post, it isn't really necro'd, IMO.

I hadn't dealt much with the "thumbs high" discipline of pistol manipulation, but as a general rule I try to keep my fingers away from the moving bits on machinery I'm operating.

Re: Its finally here. (Single stack Glock)

Bullshit bullshit. I was calling into question the validity of the claims that the 42 was released before the 43 simply because they wouldn't sell any 42s if a 9mm alternative were available. I wasn't aware that the Glock 42 production line uses equipment that can only produce Glock 42 parts, and ca...

Re: Slide release vs overhand rack WITH A HUGE SLIDE RELEASE

For personal proteciton it is best to practice using gross motor skills, vs using a fin motor skill like using a slide stop! Common people the proper name is "SLIDE STOP" not a slide release. Well, if we're going to get technical, I believe you mean "Come on, people,...", rather than "Common...

Re: AR-15 vs AR-10?

In my opinion the AR 15 would be the better choice as it fires semi auto which conserves ammo, and is more accurate Unfortunately, in America today, the AR10 would be semi-auto only, too. Unless maybe he's an SOT. edit: If he's still going the 80% route, that is. I'm sure there are a few full-auto ...

Re: What do you think I should get first?

Could get a AR in 7.62x39. Buy 'em right off the shelf, no extra parts to get intermingled or nothin'.Do a little research on what mags work best, some are real stinkers but some seem to work pretty good. Then, if and when you think you can keep everything straight, you can pick up a 5.56 upper, or ...

Re: Reloading and casting a must learn.

Personally, I'm waiting for someone to pop out a recipe for 5.56 or 6.5x55 cast bullets with a steel surprise inside. Have you seen those Boston Dynamics robots? I -need- a steel core robobuster load. Seems like somebody doing that might not want to publicize it. I suppose manufacturing AP rifle am...

Re: Combat shotgun sights - Bead or Ghost Ring?

Yeah, my first thought was "EOTech!", just to jump right to the top.

But, of the options listed, the few times I've shot my Maverick at paper, the bead seemed to work pretty good to guide the shot. No experience with ghost ring sights.

Re: Its finally here. (Single stack Glock)

Have they quit producing the 42? That would be the most economical thing to do, if they really think the 9mm version would substantially kill off demand for the 380. They could simply convert the machinery/production line to 9mil and make their new gun with minimal capital investment. If they're sti...

Re: What do you think I should get first?

I'd get an ak over an ar anyday. More reliable more put down power less maintenance. If you think about putting in effort, its already too hard. What about changing calibers, or replacing barrels? Advantage: AR For someone new, do you really want parts and magazines for two different calibers float...

Re: Its finally here. (Single stack Glock)

A poster on another forum got me curious, and this seems about the best place to ask, since the 43 will likely lead to a bunch of 42 trade-ins. Will 9x18 fit in a Glock 42 mag? How about the breech face and extractor? It'll need a different barrel, or extensive rework of the existing barrel (boring ...

Re: What have you bought in the last 48 hours?(firearms rela

Picked up a Ghost "Forward" Glock slide stop from the LGS yesterday. Looks like it should allow much easier manipulation than the flat original piece, especially when shooting left handed. Got some other go-fast parts in the mail, probably wait to install them all until the 22TCM9R kits get released...

Re: Firearms Chat 3: #pewpewlife

Is it just me, or does the glock 43 seem kinda too little, too late? . Well, it's a Glock, so... No. No, it does not. I probably won't buy one any time soon, but I don't think they'll have any trouble moving them. New people come into the CCW market all the time, no need to pack up and sell off you...

Re: LCR9 Review / Ask Me Anything

Thanks for the fast reply. Looking at your post in the "Talk me out of a revolver" thread brought up a couple other questions. 1. Is it approved for 9mm+P ammo? I Googled it but couldn't find a straight answer on Ruger's website. 2. I realize it's subjective, but how does the trigger feel? Long and ...
